FISHERPOINT

Overview

Fishertown, known as Fisherpoint during the Beta Age, was a provisional Exohuman fishing settlement established on the northern shore of Lake Orlanda in the Asari Region of the Habitual Belt on VOI 700 D. It was part of the broader Human Settlement Plan aimed at securing strategic locations across the Habitual Belt.

The settlement was intended to exploit the lake’s rich aquatic resources and serve as a foothold for further expansion in the Asari Region. However, due to escalating tensions with the Orlanda Tribe, the settlement was never completed. In the Gamma Age, Fishertown exists only as ruins — a stark reminder of cultural conflict and violent resistance.

Facts and Figures

  • Established: Beta Age (2626–2628)
  • Purpose: Fishing and strategic expansion base
  • Status: Destroyed two months before the Great War
  • Inhabitants at time of destruction: ~90 Exohuman settlers

Cultural and Strategic Importance

Fishertown holds symbolic weight as a failed colonization effort and a flashpoint for interspecies warfare:

  • Strategic Location: Located on the northern shore of Lake Orlanda, it was chosen for its access to freshwater fish and its logistical potential as a supply and exploration hub.
  • Cultural Violation: The site was seen by the Orlanda Tribe as a desecration of sacred territory, intensifying pre-existing tensions between Exohumans and Natives.
  • Historical Symbolism: Fishertown stands as a symbol of Exohuman overreach and the resistance of the Native Tribes, especially the Orlanda.

Look and Feel

Beta Age (2626 – 2628)

Rows of rough-hewn wooden shacks and canvas drying racks hugged Lake Orlanda’s stony shore, their pale boards still smelling of fresh Morningstar wood. Nets draped over makeshift poles fluttered in a humid breeze that carried equal parts lake mist and wood-smoke from cook fires. The constant rasp of hand saws and clang of improvised forge hammers blended with gull-like screeches of native skimmers out on the water. Beyond the camp’s flimsy palisade, dense tropical forest pressed close, its emerald canopy alive with chittering insects and distant Orlanda war-horn calls that set nerves on edge. The atmosphere felt taut — ambitious exile mixed with the uneasy knowledge that eyes watched from every treeline shadow.

Gamma Age (post-2631)

Nature and violence have erased nearly all signs of exohuman intent. Charred hut posts jut like blackened teeth from waist-high grass; collapsed docks sag into the lake, their planks carpeted in moss and bird droppings. Rusted fish-winches lie half-submerged, tangled in shredded netting, while spearheads and shattered basalt gravestones poke from the mud—mute evidence of the final clash. Vines coil around overturned barrel frames, and tropical flowers sprout where ration crates once stood. The only sounds are wind in tall reeds and the slap of water against debris. An eerie calm blankets the site: a battlefield stilled by time, where every crunch of leaf litter underfoot reminds visitors they tread on contested memory.

History / Legacy

As part of the Human Settlement Plan, Fisherpoint was founded to anchor Exohuman presence in the Asari Region. The settlement was strongly supported and financed by the Trade Guild of New Kourou, which saw it as a key opportunity to expand resource access and secure new trade routes for its members. However, Fisherpoint never developed beyond provisional infrastructure, with construction equipment and temporary buildings lining the lakeshore.

Tensions with the Orlanda Tribe escalated, culminating in the Battle of Fisherpoint — a brutal clash that occurred just two months before the outbreak of the Great War. The Orlanda launched a full-scale assault with 1,000 warriors wielding their iconic Orlanda Spears, overwhelming the 90 settlers, who were only lightly defended by Windstrike Rifles and the laser weapons of two Guarding Troopers.

Nearly all Exohuman settlers were killed or captured. The Orlanda lost around 250 warriors in the battle. The event marked a turning point, leading to the Orlanda's formal alignment with the Alliance of Native Tribes and igniting momentum toward full-scale conflict.

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters

Fishertown offers gritty, emotional storytelling opportunities in both Beta and Gamma Age campaigns. It can serve as a dramatic battle setting, a haunted ruin, or a place of contested memory. Dungeon Masters can explore the consequences of imperial ambition, the weight of historical trauma, and the high stakes of cultural miscommunication.

Adventure Hook – Beta Age:

  • “The Final Stand” – Players are stationed at Fisherpoint in the days leading up to the Orlanda attack. Tensions rise, and a desperate defense must be coordinated. Do they try to de-escalate, evacuate, or fight against impossible odds?

Adventure Hook – Gamma Age:

  • The Monument Rebellion – A radical Individualist, currently running for a seat on the Federal Council, declares the ambush on Fisherpoint a pre-war crime. After the Permanent Supervisor denies his demand to rebuild the town and memorialize the fallen, an armed coalition of Individualists, Outlaws, and former Volunteer Army soldiers occupies the ruins — officially to honor the dead. The Federal Sheriff sends the players on a covert mission to uncover the group's true intentions, which may involve reigniting tensions with the Native Tribes or triggering a political uprising …
