Background
Jamal “JaJo” Johanson is a fourth-generation Exohuman with a tumultuous past and a divisive political presence. Born blind, he became an influential landowner by leveraging his resourcefulness and strategic thinking, quickly acquiring additional land from less successful settlers. During the Great War, Johanson founded “Team Johanson,” an unofficial task force notorious for its brutal morale-breaking tactics against Native tribes. His involvement in wartime atrocities, including the deaths of Honga and Trando non-combatants, led to his post-war conviction as a war criminal. After a brief stint in the Firetown copper mines, his sentence was controversially relaxed, allowing him semi-freedom within Firetown—an outcome that still fuels resentment among Communard supporters.

Biography
Jamal Johanson was born blind and was one of the settlers who received 65 acres of land in 2625, under the government’s initiative to incentivize farming. His strategic acquisitions from less successful farmers allowed him to rapidly expand his land holdings.
During the Great War, Johanson founded a specialized task force known as “Team Johanson,” an unofficial group that conducted brutal behind-the-lines operations intended to break the morale of the Native tribes. His unit was accused of numerous war crimes, including the deaths of over 750 Honga women and many Trando elders, none of whom were active combatants.
Following the surrender of the Volunteer Army of Man and the resulting peace treaty, Johanson lost his land due to the Federal Confederation’s abolition of private property and was tried as a war criminal. He was sentenced to ten years of labor service in the Federal Copper Mine of Firetown in a tribunal involving both humans and Honga natives. However, due to his influence, Johanson's sentence was soon relaxed, and he was allowed free movement within the Firetown reservation, sparking outrage among the Communards in the Habitual Belt.
Political Career and Focus
in 2635, Jamal Johanson was mysteriously pardoned, despite the Communards Party's objection. This allowed him to stand as a candidate for the Individualist Party in 2636. His controversial political role has divided public opinion, but his charismatic leadership and polarizing presence have garnered significant trust. Many believe that Johanson could be the key to breaking the Communards' long-standing dominance in the Federal Confederation.
Jamal Johanson is strongly opposed to the excessive regulations imposed by the Federal Confederation and does not acknowledge the Peace Treaty as legitimate. He believes that humanity lost the war not to the Natives, but due to internal weakness caused by a conspiracy from the so called Anti War Movement. Jamal envisions a future where humans regain dominance on VOI 700 D and reestablish a capitalist society enriched by technological progress. His goal is to undo the communardist economic structure and restore the comforts of a more advanced society.
Critics and public opinion
Jamal Johanson’s political stance has sparked significant controversy. Among his supporters, particularly the Individualists, he is seen as a charismatic leader who offers a bold alternative to the restrictive governance of the Communards. Many believe in his vision of restoring humanity’s dominance on VOI 700 D and reversing excessive regulations.
However, critics, particularly from the Communards Party, accuse him of populism and reckless rhetoric, especially in his refusal to recognize the Peace Treaty. His belief that the humans lost the war due to internal conspiracy is seen as divisive and dangerous.
Family background and private life
Jamal Johanson was born in 2600 to Yasmine Saito and Sam Johanson, part of the third generation of pioneers aboard the Last Frontier. He has an older sister named Fatima Johanson.
Jamal married Wimberley Johanson in 2630, and the couple had twin sons, Noah Sam Johanson and Ethan Sam Johanson, born in 2632. The family's support has been crucial throughout Jamal’s controversial political career and personal challenges.
Physical appearance
Jamal Johanson was born blind and has never let this define his potential. His appearance is a mix of Arabic, Asian, and Scandinavian influences. With dark skin, light brown wavy hair, and almond-shaped eyes from his Japanese heritage, his striking blue-green eyes contrast with his blindness. Standing at 1.92 meters and weighing 85 kg, Johanson has a strong, athletic build. Though he ran a farm for several years before becoming a leader during the Great War, his physical resilience is still evident.
