EXOHUMAN SETTLEMENTS IN THE GAMMA AGE
Overview
Following the conclusion of the Peace Treaty with the Native Tribes of VOI 700 D in 2631, the settlement and housing structure of the ExoHumans underwent significant changes at the start of the Gamma Age.
The treaty mandated ExoHumans vacate all previously occupied areas outside four specifically designated reservations, dramatically reshaping their living patterns and urban organization.
These reservations are strictly supervised by Native Tribes to ensure treaty compliance. Each reservation is surrounded by a security perimeter known as the Settlement Perimeter Wall, controlled by the Deputies of the Federal Sheriff. All individuals entering or exiting the settlements undergo thorough security checks at designated gates.
The Four ExoHuman Reservations
The Peace Treaty restricted human habitation strictly to four reservations, each with specialized functions and unique living conditions:
- Location: Eastern Equatorial Section of the Habitual Belt (Asari), close to the original landing site of the Last Frontier.
- Function: Administrative, economic, and governmental hub of the Federal Confederation.
- Housing: Initially built from salvaged spaceship materials; future housing under the Federal Settlement Plan (FSP) will be constructed using sustainable Mycelium blocks.
- Function: Mining settlement, primarily focused on copper extraction.
- Housing: Compact, insulated structures built from volcanic stones to withstand extreme environmental conditions.
- Location: Eastern Equatorial Section of the Habitual Belt (Asari) near Arla River.
- Function: Agricultural center supplying food to other settlements.
- Housing: Structures made predominantly from local stone and timber, providing basic living quarters integrated with agricultural facilities.
- Location: Eastern Equatorial Section of the Habitual Belt (Asari) in the Atrana Mountains.
- Function: Central hub for the timber industry, providing wood and related resources.
- Housing: Predominantly wooden structures, communal lodges, and worker camps designed to support collective living and industry operations.
Legal/Illegal Exceptions and Special Locations
Though ExoHumans are legally restricted to these four settlements, a few strategic exceptions exist:
- Halfway Inn: A sanctioned rest stop located along the Trade Route between settlements, specifically serving authorized Federal Courier Service Caravans.
- Mount Atrana Communication Outpost: An isolated, highly regulated relay station situated in the Atrana Mountains, critical for inter-settlement communications.
- Outlaw groups, such as the Jane Mendoza Gang, have established illegal clandestine settlements outside regulated zones, challenging federal authority.
Restricted Mobility and Residency
Under the Peace Treaty and oversight of the GAIA system, ExoHuman movement and residency between settlements are heavily restricted. Mobility is regulated under Section 5 of the Civil Code, which requires formal travel permits issued and monitored by the Federal or Local Sheriffs.
- Movement requires explicit authorization, usually dictated by labor assignments calculated by GAIA.
- Travel permits are strictly controlled, requiring applications through the Local Sheriff’s office and verification by the Federal Allotment Agency (FAA).
- Deputies of the Federal or Local Sheriffs conduct security checks at Settlement Perimeter Wall gates, verifying travel permits, identity documents, and Allotment Cards.
Conditions for Travel Authorization (Civil Code Section 5)
Travel permits are issued only under specific conditions to conserve energy and align with treaty compliance:
- Relocation due to job assignments or administrative needs directed by GAIA and coordinated by the FAA.
- Duties involving the Federal Courier Service, including transportation and security.
- Monthly family visits allowed under GAIA’s instructions.
- Special events such as weddings and funerals of immediate family members.
Travel without proper authorization is considered a serious violation of the Peace Treaty and is punishable under the Criminal Code. Repeat offenses can lead to revocation of Allotment Cards or harsher penalties.
