SPACE DRINKS INC. HEADQUARTERS
Overview
- Location: Industrial Ring, New Kourou
- Address: NW Industrial Ring Road 1
- Surroundings: Adjacent to the Plant of the Karabulut Garment Manufactory
Opened in January 2626, the Space Drinks Inc. (SDI) headquarters combined brewery, bottling hall, corporate offices, and a small public showroom under one battered alloy roof. From here Christos Demopoulos ramped a single salvaged fermenter into a planet-wide beverage empire, shipping Space Beer and its “Orbital Spirits” line to every settlement in the Free State of Settlers.
The complex functioned until mid-2631, when the Federal Confederation nationalised all private alcohol producers. As the Federal Council also severely restricted alcohol consumption and all food and beverage production was concentrated in Hope, the complex was demolished in December 2631. Some of the equipment was dismantled in New Kourou and set up in the Federal Beverages Manufactory in Hope.
Architectural Significance
- Construction Material: Hull-plate cladding over a skeletal steel frame reclaimed from Last Frontier cargo racks.
- Floors: 2 main levels + 1 mezzanine control deck.
- Design Purpose: A continuous production loop — grain in at the north door, kegs out at the south dock — with gravity-fed fermentation vessels suspended between.
Building Structure
Ground Floor
- Brew Hall: Four 5 000-L kettles, mash tun, whirlpool, and open firebox built from shuttle thruster parts.
- Fermentation “Orbit”: Eight vertical tanks (nicknamed Alpha–Theta) hanging in a circular pit; each linked to a crude glycol loop scavenged from cryo-freezers.
- Packaging Line: Manual bottle filler, crown-cork press, and keg washer
- Shipping Bay: Two loading doors sized for Courier Service carts; kegs rolled onto wooden skids.
Second Floor & Mezzanine
- Quality-Control Lab: Tiny glass room with hydrometers, yeast microscopes, and tasting bench.
- Founder’s Office: Christos’ windowed perch overlooking the brew hall; walls plastered with sales charts.
- Contract Suite: Three desks where “Bar-Desk-as-a-Service” leases were signed and stamped.
Public Showroom (Street-side Annex)
- Tasting Bar-Desk: A four-tap demo version of the company’s “Bar-Desk-as-a-Service” counter, staffed by the showroom Butler Bot. Visitors sample Space Beer flights and observe the automated pour routine that tavern owners can lease for their own establishments.
- Merch Rack: Shelves of tin wall-signs, bottle-cap keyrings, and rolled poster prints emblazoned with the slogan “We left space behind; now space lives in every glass.” – all sold at modest margins to keep the brand in every common room across the Belt.
Look and Feel
Visitors stepped from New Kourou’s twilight into a cavernous shed of almost-held-together engineering. Hull plates from the Last Frontier had been riveted unevenly over a salvaged steel frame; gaps were stuffed with insulation rags and tar-sealant streaks. Copper piping snaked across the ceiling in crooked runs, each joint stamped with mismatched refinery marks. Condenser coils — yanked from cryo-freezer guts — sweated into battered tin buckets that rang with an off-beat plink-plink.
A single, bow-tied Butler Bot rolled along a catwalk to narrate tours, its chassis occasionally jolting over hastily welded seams. Below, brewers hefted grain sacks up plywood ramps, steam wrapped the hand-riveted kettles in a sugary-malt fog, and dim utility bulbs threw gold reflections off sweating steel tanks. Pallets of green-glass bottles formed crooked aisles where the clink of shifting cargo mixed with the constant hiss of improvised coolant lines.
The whole place felt equal parts alchemy lab and emergency shelter: loud, hot, smelling of roasted barley and ionized metal — yet undeniably alive with the optimism that any scrap could be turned into liquid celebration.

Player Interaction Possibilities
Legal interactions:
- Apply for Work: Submit a résumé at the reception desk (warehouse porter, quality-check line worker, or showroom attendant).

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
The gutted HQ makes a versatile scene—active brewery:
- Boil-Over Crisis: A runaway mash threatens an ammonia flash—players must vent the hall before an explosion.
- QFB Diversion: During routine battery swaps, swap a charged Quantum Fusion Battery with a dead shell—smuggling the real unit out inside a spent grain barrel.
