NEW WORLD HOTEL
Overview
- Location: Public Services Ring, New Kourou
- Address: SW Public Services Ring Road 1
- Surroundings: Adjacent to the G-Bar, in the Entertainment Strip of New Kourou.
Founded in April 2626, the New World Hotel was one of the first privately operated lodging establishments in the Free State of Settlers. Its unique appeal lay in its immersive interior design: the entire hotel was constructed using salvaged parts from the exohuman spaceship Last Frontier, with each guest room replicating the look and layout of the ship’s original passenger cabins.
The hotel was founded and managed by Shakira O’Neil, who had lost her husband during the crash landing. The New World Hotel was created as a tribute to their shared life aboard the Last Frontier — a quiet memorial designed to preserve memory and familiarity in the face of planetary uncertainty. The hotel was almost entirely operated by Service Bots, including reception and cleaning. Only the manager and one maintenance contractor were human.
Originally intended as lodging for traveling settlers and small delegations, the hotel quickly developed a reputation as a sanctuary for Exohumans suffering from post-crash anxiety and homesickness. Guests often booked rooms not for sleep, but to retreat into the safety and familiarity of ship-like living.
During the Great War, the building was repurposed into a Lazarette to care for wounded settlers. In September 2630, it was destroyed in an attack by the Alliance of Native Tribes, an event survivors would later refer to as “the second burndown of the Last Frontier.”
In the Gamma Age, a new structure was built on the exact same location: the Federal Hostel and Saloon, a communal lodging and social center regulated by the Federal Confederation.
Architectural Significance
- Construction Material: Original bulkhead panels, modular floors, sleep bunks, and light strips salvaged from the passenger deck of the Last Frontier.
- Floors: 3
- Design Purpose: Created to mimic the ship’s cabin section, offering both practical accommodation and emotional reassurance to settlers struggling with planetary adaptation.
While the exterior appeared rather inconspicuous and was reconstructed from container walls, wood, and recycled alloys, the interior was almost completely retrofitted with authentic ship fittings. From wall-mounted consoles to emergency signage, the building exuded the closed, orderly atmosphere of the settlers' former home.
Building Structure
Ground Floor:
- Reception Desk: Operated by an automated Butler Bot, allowing 24/7 check-in and key code management. Staffless but efficient.
- Breakfast Lounge: Styled after the Last Frontier’s cafeteria, featuring metallic seating, soft ambient light strips, and meal dispensers repurposed for simple communal breakfasts. Walls were decorated with framed printouts of life aboard the Last Frontier, including one prominent photo of Shakira O’Neil and her late husband’s wedding.
- Small Kitchen Unit: Located behind a partial wall, this compact galley housed heating trays, prep counters, and storage units for preserved foods. A second Butler Bot worked here during the early hours to prepare standardized breakfast meals for guests.
Second & Third Floor (Guest Rooms):
- 12 Guest Rooms: Identical to the original passenger cabins on the Last Frontier, including:Fold-down wall bunks, original storage wardrobes, built-in writing desks and analog controls, Ambient light slits with manual shutters. The Rooms were compact and windowless by design, providing quiet and enclosure from the chaotic new world outside.
- Common Bathroom Area (Second Floor): Included shower units and toilet stalls shared by all guests, featuring the AuroraSan System.
Look and Feel
Inside the New World Hotel, time seemed to rewind. Metallic hallways echoed faintly under every step, and soft-glow strip lights mimicked the artificial rhythms of shipboard living. The air smelled faintly of sanitized plastic and filtered humidity. Console panels, although deactivated, gave each room an eerie familiarity. Guests described the experience as calming, almost womb-like — a retreat into the known amid planetary uncertainty.
The breakfast lounge carried quiet conversation, soft ambient noise, and recycled tableware — offering not just nourishment but nostalgia. The photos on the walls anchored guests to memories of space travel, and human intimacy — including the bittersweet image of a couple united in orbit.

The New World Hotel is an ideal location for quiet character-driven scenes, secret rendezvous, or psychological exploration. Plot hooks include:

- A former passenger of the Last Frontier relives traumatic memories — and may be carrying dangerous knowledge.
- A player experiences unsettling dreams after sleeping in a cabin rumored to still be “connected” to shipboard systems.
