ENERGY REDISTRIBUTION NODES (ERNS)
Overview
Energy Redistribution Nodes (ERNs) were localized power relay stations built during the Beta Age to support the recharging of Quantum Fusion Batteries (QFBs). These high-efficiency converters transformed energy from solar, wind, and geothermal sources into stabilized outputs compatible with QFB recharging protocols.
ERNs played a central role in the Exohuman post-crash energy grid on VOI 700 D, acting as the connective tissue between raw planetary energy and high-tech quantum power cells. Without ERNs, QFBs could not be recharged, making these nodes critical infrastructure for Exohuman survival, automation, and defense.
Structure and Location
Each major Exohuman settlement operated at least one primary ERN, which was always co-located with a Quantum Fusion Recalibration Stations (QFRS). This pairing formed the fortified heart of the settlement’s energy infrastructure. The physical proximity ensured minimal energy loss, streamlined recharge cycles, and synchronized operation between recalibration and recharging tasks.
To enhance energy security and support decentralized energy harvesting, supplementary ERNs were also established in strategically important areas — particularly near geothermal wells, or wind corridors. These remote or district-level nodes pre-converted energy and relayed it to central hubs, or provided local backup in times of crisis or overload.
During the Beta Age, twelve ERNs were operational:
- 4 in New Kourou
- 3 in Firetown
- 2 in Hope
- 2 in Morningstar
- 1 in the Atrana Mountain Region (supporting local wind farms)
- 1 in Arla Town
ERN structures included:
- Reinforced energy buffers
- Modular converters for solar, wind, and geothermal input
- Emergency discharge valves for overload protection
- Quantum output stabilizers calibrated for QFB protocols
Core Functions
- Energy Conversion: Transformed volatile planetary energy sources into stable, QFB-compatible output.
- Load Balancing: Managed power flow into the QFRS to avoid system surges or underloads.
- Storage Synchronization: Maintained short-term buffer storage to ensure uninterrupted charging cycles.
- Emergency Rerouting: Could divert power to life-support or defense systems during crises.
'Note': ERNs did not store power long-term; they operated as live routing stations rather than battery banks.
Strategic Importance
Control over an ERN effectively meant control over QFB availability and, by extension, access to automation, communication, and high-tier military systems. As such, ERNs were among the most strategically protected facilities in Exohuman settlements.
In New Kourou, all four ERNs fell under the joint oversight of the New Kourou Robotics Syndicate (NKRS) and the Federal Energy Office, occasionally leading to conflicts over prioritization — particularly during times of civil unrest or energy scarcity.
