ELIAS KIM
Race and Faction
- Species: ExoHuman
- Born: 2557, aboard the spaceship Last Frontier
- Affiliation: Freelancer and social operative for the Office for Special Operations (OfSO) (informal contracts only)
- Occupation: Self-declared “entrepreneur without a company”
- Place of Residence: Firetown — rented room above the Halfway Inn gaming hall
Background
Elias Kim grew up on the Last Frontier, where he learned languages faster than most learned to walk. By sixteen he could mimic speech patterns from half the ship’s decks — the engineers’ clipped slang, the botanists’ careful phrasing, the officers’ bureaucratic tone. After the crash of the Last Frontier, Elias found himself stranded on VOI 700 D without a title, a trade, or a plan — but with a smile sharp enough to open any door.
After the founding of the Free State of Settlers, Elias drifted between early settlements as a self-appointed interpreter, trading his quick tongue for meals and shelter. He picked up regional dialects of Common and even learned Honga, the principal language shared by all Native Tribes, quickly attuning himself to its local variations and gestures. Early settlers were astonished by how effortlessly he mirrored the Natives’ rhythm and metaphors, often serving as an informal bridge between camps that barely trusted each other.
In time, his curiosity — and his vices — drew him to Firetown, where his talent for languages and bluff made him a favorite in the settlement's Entertainment District. There he discovered his passion — and his flaw — in the miner’s dice game Frostpunkt. His intuition for people and patterns often won him rounds that others swore were impossible; other times, he lost everything but his grin.
When money is good, Elias stays at the Dark Side Hotel. When funds run out, he lives on charm, credit, and luck — usually in that order.
Ezrah Scherkenstein first crossed paths with him during a courier-trail audit that ended in a Frostpunkt den. She noticed his gift for extracting truths mid-bluff and offered him “occasional work.” Since then, Elias has served the OfSO as a charming go-between — translating dialects, coaxing witnesses, and infiltrating taverns where official badges can’t reach.
He has no official employer, yet he calls himself an *entrepreneur without a company* — always sketching ideas for ventures that never quite leave the notebook. What he truly seeks are adventures, women, and a story worth betting on.

Special Abilities
- Frostpunkt Gambler: Once per session, Elias may “play a round” mid-scene — roll 1d6:
- 1–2: Overconfident — loses his focus; disadvantage on next action.
- 3–4: Calculated risk — nothing happens, but tension builds.
- 5–6: Master bluff — gains +2 on all Charisma checks for the rest of the scene.
- Silver Tongue: Advantage on Persuasion and Deception when flirting or negotiating stakes.
- Lucky Draw: Once per long rest, may reroll a failed skill check — but must narrate it as a bold gamble.
- Flaws — Gambler’s Vice & Romantic Entanglement:
- Frostpunkt Addiction: Must succeed a DC 12 WIS save when near an active gambling game or lose 1 turn to play “just one round.”
- Heartbreaker: Romantic pursuits often backfire; a failed Persuasion with a charmed NPC may escalate to hostility or betrayal.
- Overconfidence: Believes every problem has a clever solution — even when silence or retreat would save him.
Motivations and Goals
Elias dreams of starting a business “that runs on luck and stories,” though no one (least of all him) knows what that means. For now, he lives for adventure, quick money, and the thrill of the unknown. Deep down, he hopes to prove that wit and charm can rewrite fate — that on VOI 700 D, survival is a game for those who dare to play.
Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
Elias excels in social encounters, moral gray zones, and moments where charm matters more than blades. Use him to unlock dialogue-based solutions, recruit allies through gambling scenes, or turn chance into narrative drama. His Frostpunkt ability can swing missions wildly — rewarding roleplay as much as risk.
