PHARMACY OF MORNINGSTAR

Overview

The Pharmacy of Morningstar was the Free State of Settler's primary dispensary for the settlement of Morningstar and the Atrana Mountains region. Fully automated with zero Exohuman staff, it relied on a Butler Bots to verify prescriptions, process payments, and dispense every vial and tablet.

It served both private patients (B2C) and institutional clients (B2B), including the the neighboring Medical Station. Roughly 80 % of its stock — capsules, nano‑vials, vaccine cards, etc.— came direct from Schreder Pharma Inc.’s Morningstar‐regional plant. All products were strictly prescription‑only, with each script scanned and approved by the on‑duty Butler Bot.

After the establishment of the Federal Confederation in 2631, all medicine production and distribution were nationalized under the Federal Pharma Manufactory and supervised by the Federal Allotment Agency.Former pharmacies were phased out in favor of direct drops to clinics and hospitals.

Architectural Significance

  • Construction Material: Reclaimed freight-container shell reinforced with locally milled timber planks and steel corner braces.
  • Floors: 1
  • Form Factor: Compact, container-sized structure optimized for automated dispensing rather than interior circulation.
  • Façade: Large horizontal counter window fitted with heavy steel security bars; reinforced service shutter for after-hours lockdown.
  • Design Aesthetic: Frontier pragmatism — visibly repurposed infrastructure combining industrial container geometry with improvised wooden cladding.

Building Structure

  • Single-Storey Container Layout
  • Service Counter & Dispensing Window: The front of the container is dominated by a wide, waist-high counter window protected by steel bars. Patients queue outside and present prescriptions directly at the opening. A solid timber counter runs the full width of the window on the interior side.
  • Dispensing Zone (Interior): A single Butler Bot operates behind the counter, scanning prescriptions, processing payments, and handing out medication trays or sealed blister packs through the barred opening.
  • Medicine Storage:
    1. Sideboards: Floor-mounted timber-and-steel cabinets lining the container’s side walls.
    2. Wall Boards: Hanging boards and shelves mounted above eye level, holding labeled boxes, vials, injector kits, and vaccine cards.
  • Secure Stock Compartment (Rear): A compact, climate-controlled storage section separated by an internal security bulkhead. High-value or sensitive pharmaceuticals are accessed only by the Butler Bot via internal locking rails.

Look and Feel

From the outside, the Pharmacy of Morningstar looks more like a fortified supply container than a shop. Weathered timber panels are bolted onto a dented alloy shell, rain streaks running down steel seams. The counter window glows softly from within, its bars casting long shadows across the muddy street where patients line up with folded prescriptions in hand.

Behind the counter, the Butler Bot moves with calm mechanical precision. Its articulated arms retrieve medication from wall-mounted boards and side cabinets, sliding packets forward with practiced efficiency. The interior smells faintly of treated wood, machine oil, and sterilized packaging — no antiseptic sharpness, just the quiet hum of controlled automation.

There are no benches, no waiting room, no unnecessary comforts. The design communicates a simple truth of the Beta Age frontier: medicine is available, reliable, and regulated — but never casual.

Roles and Responsibilities

Human Oversight

Regional Pharmacology Officer (off‑site): Periodically audits stock levels, approves special orders

Automated Staff

  • Butler Bot – Dispensing (1): Prescription validation, payment processing, dosage counseling, and secure dispense.
  • Cleaning Bot (1): Runs a nightly deep‑clean cycle — polishing timber surfaces and sterilizing steel elements.

Public Access, Operating Hours & Operational Rhythm

  • Public Access: Exterior counter service only; no interior access for civilians.
  • Operating Hours: Monday–Saturday 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM; emergency intercom service 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM.

Daily Flow:

  • Early-morning restock via secure rear access, coordinated with the New Kourou Courier Service.
  • Continuous daytime counter service for private patients and institutional pickups.
  • Mid-day bulk handovers for the neighboring Medical Station.
  • At 5:15 PM, a Guarding Bot escorts the day’s revenue lock-box to the Morningstar Homeland Bank.

Security Measures

  • Reinforced Counter Window:The primary service window is protected by fixed steel security bars anchored directly into the container frame. Spacing allows safe handover of medication trays and documents but prevents forced entry or physical assault on the Butler Bot.
  • Trooper Patrols: Guarding Troopers passed the storefront once per shift as part of the route.
  • Escorted Revenue-Transfer: A Guarding Bot collected the day’s Kourou takings in a lock-box and escorts them to the New Homeland Bank.

Legal interactions:

  • Present a valid prescription and pick up your meds
  • Ask the Butler Bot for dosage advice or check for possible contra‑indications.
  • Set up a standing refill order for chronic‑care meds (B2C) or arrange a weekly bulk drop for the Medical Station (B2B).
  • Deliver drugs as a cart driver for the New  Kourou Courier Service.

Illegal activities:

  • Hack the Butler Bot to dispense restricted nano-painkillers.
  • Forge scripts to siphon black-market stimulants.
  • Swap bar-codes on crates destined for the hospital.

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters

The Pharmacy is perfect for stealthy thefts, moral quandaries over medicine scarcity, or hostage-style standoffs when someone needs drugs the system won’t dispense.

Adventure Hook Example

  • Counterfeit Crisis: Fake NeuroCalm floods Morningstar, causing mysterious overdoses. The party must trace the counterfeit supply chain back to its source before panic spirals into full‑blown hysteria.
