FIRETOWN COPPER PLANT INC.
Overview
- Location: Industrial Ring, Firetown
- Address: NE Industrial Ring Road 2
- Surroundings: Rail spur to the mine apron; adjacent service yards and the early Relay mast
The Firetown Copper Plant was the Beta Age predecessor to the Federal Copper Plant. Founded 3 September 2627 by the Trade Guild of New Kourou, it smelted, refined, and fabricated base copper for the young colony using mixed exohuman oversight and heavy Service Bot labor. In 2632, following the rise of Communardism and the formation of the Federal Confederation, the plant was nationalized and merged (along with the Firetown Tool & Machine Works) into the unified Federal Copper Plant.
Architectural Significance
A compact, heat-conserving industrial block designed for Bot-centered workflows in Firetown’s constant subzero climate.
- Materials: Stacked cargo containers salvaged from the Last Frontier, reinforced steel frames and internal bracing, spaceship hull plating repurposed as heat shields and furnace cladding, timber walkways and service platforms treated against frost
- Floors: Two primary operational levels formed by container stacks
- Geothermal Feed Vents: Insulated steel stacks and vent assemblies integrated into the rear façade, channeling heat and hot water from the Geothermal Power Plant to maintain interior temperature
- Air Vents / Heat Recovery Ventilator: The building's air exchange was managed by a centralized, mechanical ventilation system with a central intake on the exterior of the building.
- Power Supply: Quantum Fusion Battery
- Lighting: Electric task lighting over lines and consoles; safety beacons along conveyor runs.
- Bot Infrastructure: Overhead tracks for hoists; flush-floor conveyors; dedicated charging & diagnostics bays.
Building Structure
Ground Floor (Smelting & Intake)
- Sally Yard & Rail Spur: Narrow-gauge terminus; ore hoppers discharge to insulated bins.
- Smelting Hall: Multi-fired furnaces; Bot loaders/unloaders; flux stations.
- Material Warehouse: Container stacks used for ore, flux, and slag storage, connected by internal conveyors.
- Cantina & Staff Lounge: A repurposed container with a tea stove, hot fluid dispensers, and a Frontier Quickdraw console.
- Locker & Charging Rooms: Personnel lockers; Bot charging docks.
- Restrooms (2): AuroraSan System-equipped sanitation containers.
Second Floor (Refining & Control)
- Refining Line: Automated electrolytic/refine bays tuned for Bot handling; coil take-up.
- Quality Control Lab: Purity benches, sample presses, micrometers, assay ledgers.
- Admin & Control Center: Trade Guild consoles, production boards, order books.
- Sales Demonstration Room: Coin blanks, wire gauges, sheet/pipe displays for buyers.
Exterior & Workshops
- Outbound Bay: Finished-goods loading for the Firetown Courier Service.
- Maintenance Shop & Bot Dock: Hoists, diagnostics, spares for furnaces and Bots.
Look and Feel
From a distance, it glows like a wounded beast — furnace light bleeding through seams between containers, smoke and sparks pouring into the Dark Side's eternal night. The air vibrates with the constant churn of conveyors, the deep roar of furnaces, and the mechanical rhythm of Bots moving ore and coils without pause.
Inside, heat is oppressive. The smell of molten copper, flux dust, and ozone clings to every surface. Service Bots glide along rails and floors with tireless precision, while exohuman overseers shout instructions from steel catwalks, their voices nearly lost in the din.
Refined ingots stack in precise copper-bright walls, still radiating warmth. In the control containers above, Trade Guild clerks mark ledgers and quotas under flickering lamps, their breath visible despite the heat bleeding upward from below.
Outside the plant walls, the cold is instant and brutal. Darkness presses close, reminding everyone that without the relentless fire inside these container walls, Firetown’s lights would go dark — and its people would freeze.

Player Interaction Possibilities
Legal interactions:
- Deliver ore or collect finished stock under Trade Guild contract.
- Take shifts as QA runner, warehouse tally, or maintenance aide (guild temp hires).
- Negotiate bulk orders (wire/sheet/pipe) for private workshops.
- Apply & interview as QA runner, warehouse tally, or maintenance aide (guild temp hires).
- Apply at the Rail Intake Desk for a logistics clerk/dispatcher role; after onboarding, coordinate—or personally escort—ore deliveries and finished-stock pickups under Trade Guild contract.
- Book a sales appointment / interview as a junior sales rep; shadow demos in the Sales Room.
Illegal interactions:
- Divert ore hoppers; swap purity stamps on coil lots.
- Spoof Bot orders to mis-route a finished shipment.
- Disable a rail-escort drone before an ambush.
Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
- Adventure Hook — Ambushed Courier Carts: A high-value shipment bound for the Kourou Coin Press vanishes after a relay outage. Witnesses report refurbished Combat Drones herding the cart off-corridor. Ledger trails don’t match coil weights. PCs must track the captured carts through slag ravines and recover coin blanks before they seed a black-market currency ring in New Kourou.
