BERG; KIRAN

Race and Faction

Background

Kiran Berg, a fourth-generation ExoHuman and a prominent political figure from Morningstar, combines a background in medicine with his deep commitment to the principles of justice and equality. Born aboard the Last Frontier and raised by physician parents, Berg trained as a doctor, yet he chose not to use his doctorate title in his name—a personal stance emphasizing equality across professions. This principle extended into his political career, where he advocated for fair treatment of all tribes on VOI 700 D. Following his tenure in the Federal Council, he became Mayor of Morningstar in 2634, where his approachability and dedication to social welfare made him a respected leader.

Political career

Kiran Berg was one of the founding members of the Anti War Movement, which was founded by Aisha Patel to end the Great War between the Humans and the Native Tribes.

After the forced surrender of the Volunteer Army of Man, he ran for the Communards party as a council member in 2632 and won one of Morningstar's three seats.

Convinced that the fundamental course for a better future for the Federal Confederation had now been set, Kiran Berg decided to become more involved again at the “local level” in the future. Therefore, in 2634, he ran for Mayor of his home reservation, Morningstar, where he had operated a medical practice before the outbreak of war.

Kiran Berg won the election for mayor with 90 percent of the vote.

Political focus

Kiran Bergs political focus is justice, equal treatment and a fair coexistence between all tribes on planet VOI 700 D.In this context, he sees the exohuman settlers as just another tribe among others.

A physician by training, Kiran Berg's primary advocacy during his time as an active politician was for an equitable health care system that benefits all citizens as well as members of Native tribes equally. Based on the so-called “Oath of Hippocrates”, Kiran Berg believed that a doctor should help anyone who had health difficulties. In doing so, one cannot exclude whether it is a human being or a member of the Native Tribes.

As Mayor of Morningstar, Kiran Berg was committed to establishing local medical practices in the Morningstar and Hope communities. This was because the citizens of both reservations had always had to travel to New Kourou for medical appointments since the end of the Great War.

Critics and public opinion

Kiran Berg is considered a committed social and health policy expert. His pragmatic commitment to good health care is equally recognized by members of both parties.

Criticism of him come mainly from the party and the voters of the Individualists. This is because Kiran Berg's commitment to ensuring that doctors on human reservations also treat Natives has been seen by them as wrong. After all, the terms of the peace treaty would have made it very difficult for the Natives to establish a comprehensive health care system based on the latest scientific findings. Instead, energy would have to be conserved even for preventive medical care, and important equipment could not be rebuilt because of a lack of materials and manufactures. So why should the Natives then nevertheless benefit from the system they themselves sabotage?

There is a famous quote on this question from the well-known politician and Mayor of Firetown Thabo "Tony" Forster: “Why treat the hand that strangles you?”

Family background and private life

Kiran Berg is the only child of Laura Berg (2540 -2620 on the spaceship Last Frontier) and Magnus Berg (2636 - 2618 on the spaceship Last Frontier). Both parents worked as doctors on the multigenerational spaceship.

Kiran Berg is married to Freja Berg (*2584 on the spaceship Last Frontier). The couple has one daughter: Sofie Berg (*2614).
