3 | Transcription & Translation

The contracts are written entirely in the Blues' clipped, Franco-Shipyard dialect. If a PC speaks French, or if the party uses a translation device, they can decipher the chilling, bureaucratic phrasing of J.W.'s control over his people.

Original Text (Franco-Shipyard Dialect):

English Translation:

I hereby confirm that I have voluntarily moved in with my host, Mr. Seven, to live with him in the designated areas.

I also confirm to respect the house rules of Mr. Seven and commit not to question them as long as I live in his home.

I understand that leaving the home of my host, Mr. Seven, requires certain security measures and his consent.

4 | DM Notes: The Significance of the Contracts

  • The Ultimate Clue (“Mr. Seven”): This contract is the smoking gun connecting “Jareth Wyrick” to the Blues. He does not use his stolen human name with his own people. To them, he is still “7” — his original stowaway number from the *Last Frontier*.
  • The Illusion of Consent: The bureaucratic language of the contract is a chilling reflection of J.W.'s psyche. He desperately needs to believe he is a benevolent “host” rather than a jailer. He forces the Blues to “voluntarily” sign away their freedom to justify his absolute control over them.
  • “Certain Security Measures”: This is a veiled reference to the extreme lengths J.W. goes to in order to protect his secret. If a Blue tries to leave without consent (like the Nameless Man / Blue 14 did), the “security measure” is execution.
  • The Number 12: The number beneath the bloody fingerprint represents the specific Blue who signed it. The bone box contains 14 of these contracts in total, representing every Blue currently (or formerly) kept on the property.
