JEREMY KARABULUT

Race and Faction

Background

Jeremy Karabulut was born in 2575 aboard the spaceship Last Frontier and was raised in a structured, uniform society where all settlers wore identical space suits. While many Exohumans accepted this practicality as a necessity for survival, Jeremy found himself captivated by images from old Earth — fashion shows, tailored suits, and the concept of personal expression through clothing.

His father, a Guarding Trooper, and his mother, an Engineer responsible for Service Bot maintenance, had little interest in fashion, but they supported his curiosity. As an only child, Jeremy spent countless hours consuming old media, sketching garment designs, and dreaming of a time when clothing could once again reflect individual identity.

A Visionary in the Early Days of Settlement

At the time of the crash-landing in 2625, every ExoHuman wore a standard-issue Last Frontier space suit. These suits were durable but impractical for planetary survival—they were designed for the vacuum of space, not the dynamic climate of VOI 700 D. Settlers modified their suits into functional garments, cutting and patching them to adapt to their new environment. However, textile shortages severely limited options, and the early settlers struggled to create clothing that balanced durability, breathability, and flexibility.

Jeremy Karabulut saw an opportunity where others saw hardship.

Within weeks of the crash, he opened the first sewing shop in New Kourou in April 2625, repurposing old space suits into practical, wearable garments. Unlike other settlers, who focused solely on survival, Jeremy saw clothing as an expression of identity and functionality. He quickly identified key weaknesses in repurposed space suit materials and pioneered new techniques to make them more adaptable.

His early specializations included:

  • Reinforced jackets & pants – designed for settlers working in rough terrain.
  • Layered garments – improving temperature control in the fluctuating climates of VOI 700 D.
  • Flexible, breathable modifications – enhancing mobility compared to stiff, pressurized space suits.

His sewing methods and garment modifications became so popular that by the end of 2625, six additional sewing shops had opened in New Kourou, directly copying his techniques. By 2627, 24 independent sewing shops were operating across all four ExoHuman settlements. However, space suit refurbishment had significant limitations—materials were scarce, there was no color variety, and the ability to create new designs was minimal.

Karabulut recognized that true innovation required a new material. In 2626, he began experimenting with Hekana fibers, an indigenous plant-based textile found in the Hope Region. After countless failed attempts, he finally perfected a method of weaving Hekana into a strong yet breathable fabric—a breakthrough that revolutionized ExoHuman fashion. Hekana textiles offered settlers a superior alternative to repurposed space suit materials, making clothing lighter, more comfortable, and weather-resistant.

By 2628, Karabulut Garment Manufactory (KGM) had become the dominant textile producer in New Kourou, manufacturing both leisurewear and work clothing for settlers, mechanics, and law enforcement. His products were highly sought after, commanding premium prices on both legal and black markets.

His legacy was built on three principles:

  • Practical Innovation – His garments were designed for survival, not just style.
  • Craftsmanship – Every piece carried his personal stamp of quality, setting industry standards.
  • Freedom of Expression – Karabulut believed that clothing should represent identity, a philosophy that set him apart from Communard collectivism.

Through these principles, Jeremy Karabulut didn’t just create a business — he created a movement.

The Rise of Hekana-Based Textiles

Jeremy’s greatest breakthrough came with the introduction of Hekana fibers into garment production. While most settlers continued to repurpose space suit materials, Jeremy recognized the unique properties of Hekana, a plant native to VOI 700 D. He collaborated with agricultural pioneers to cultivate and refine the fiber, creating lightweight, breathable, and durable fabrics that revolutionized clothing.

By 2628, KGM was the dominant textile producer in New Kourou, supplying not only leisurewear but also specialized work clothing for settlers, mechanics, and law enforcement. His garments were in high demand, fetching high prices on both legal and black markets.

Death During the Great War

Jeremy Karabulut met his fate on December 7, 2630, during the Great War. As the conflict escalated, his Hekana fields nearby Hope became a strategic asset. The Alliance of Native Tribes, seeking to disrupt Exohuman industry, targeted KGM’s plantations. Instead of evacuating, Jeremy chose to defend his land, fighting alongside his workers in a doomed last stand.

He was killed in the attack, but his legend endured. In his final will, he assigned leadership of KGM to a group of trusted employees, forming the Loyal Committee, ensuring the company’s continuity.

Legacy and Nationalization

Jeremy’s death spared him from witnessing the fall of his life’s work. In 2632, under the Communard government of Supreme Councilor Aisha Patel, KGM was forcibly nationalized and absorbed into the Federal Garment Manufactory (FGM).

Despite this, many former KGM employees remained in the industry, continuing to work at FGM. They kept Jeremy’s legacy alive, passing down his craftsmanship, techniques, and rebellious spirit. His early garments are now prized collectibles on the black market, sought after by Individualists and Outlaws as symbols of pre-Communard freedom.

Jeremy never married, prioritizing his business over personal commitments. However, rumors suggest he had multiple children with married women, leading to the term “Karabulut Cuckoos”—a nickname for individuals who claim to be his descendants.
