THE FIRETOWN POST
The Firetown Post is a weekly newspaper in the exohuman Gamma Age on planet VOI 700 D. The newspaper is printed and published by the Individualist party and is officially classified as “party information”.
The newspaper has been published weekly since the year 2634. In Firetown it is always available from Friday morning. Afterwards, the Federal Courier Service brings the newspaper to the three other reservations, where they are available from Saturday (Hope and Morningstar) and from Monday (New Kourou).
The Firetown is the second most read media by people - after the Weekly Gazette from New Kourou.
The editorial office is located in Firetown.
The Firetown Post has a circulation of 6.000 copies.
Public perception and criticism
Because the Firetown Post officially functions as party information rather than a press, its journalistic and ethical standards cannot be controlled by the Federal News Agency (FNA).
Accordingly, the Firetown Post has been accused by the Communard party, as well as many citizens of the Federal Confederation, of failing to provide objective reporting and of “often not being accurate with the factual truth.”
However, this criticism is rejected by the creators of the Firetown Post as well as the Party of Individualists, arguing that the FNA suppresses independent journalism because it was created by the Communard government.
Accordingly, the Weekly Gazette, published by the Federal News Agency, is also rejected by the individualists as “a Communard propaganda medium disguised as journalism.”
