FIRETOWN COURIER STATION
Overview
- Location: Public Services Ring, Firetown
- Address: SW Public Services Ring Road 1
- Surroundings: Within sight of the Local Guarding Trooper Station of Firetown
The Firetown Courier Station was the headquarters and primary logistics hub of the Firetown Courier Service, handling all caravans on the frontier routes of the Dark Side. As the terminus of the supply network, it received goods, passengers, and mail from New Kourou and dispatched local ore, provisions, and personnel back along the same line.
Unlike the brighter stations of the Asari Region, Firetown’s hub was engineered for perpetual darkness and freezing cold. Thick volcanic stone and geothermal heat vents kept its interiors habitable, making it a fortress of survival at the very edge of the Free State.
Following the formation of the Federal Confederation in 2632, the station was nationalized under the Federal Allotment Agency and rebranded the Federal Courier Service Station of Firetown.
Architectural Significance
- Construction Material: Volcanic-stone walls with insulated linings; no windows — only narrow viewing slots against cold and storms
- Floors: 2 (no basement)
- Roof & Roofline: Retractable Short-Wave Antenna (for the Exohuman Shortwave Radio Network); Neon Sign (“Firetown Courier Station – Welcome to Ralar”) above entrance
- Geothermal Feed Vents: Rear steel vents channel heat and water from the Geothermal Power Plant
- Air Vents / Heat Recovery Ventilator: The building's air exchange was managed by a centralized, mechanical ventilation system with a central intake on the exterior of the building.
- Power Supply: Quantum Fusion Battery
- Design Purpose: Fortified, heat-retentive structure for 24/7 operations in sub-zero perpetual night

Look and Feel
The Firetown Courier Station exuded survival rather than comfort. Lantern-light flickered across black stone walls, shadows stretching long in the cold air. Heat ducts exhaled mineral-laced warmth from below, but every draft from the outer gates carried the sting of the Dark Side’s eternal frost.
Hoos stamped restlessly in their heated stalls, breath rising in pale clouds. Porters struggled under the weight of ore crates, boots scraping on frost-slick flagstones. The waiting hall smelled of wet stone, sweat, and boiled broth from the canteen stall — a bitter reminder that this was no place of leisure, only necessity.
Settlers queued at the Postal Office, hands raw and trembling from the cold as they slid letters across the counter. On the notice board, crumpled sheets bore news of missing miners, debt warnings, or desperate trade offers. Near the benches, hollow-eyed figures nursed chipped mugs of bitter tea, remnants of fortunes lost in the Entertainment District.
Above it all, the silent red glow of the Guarding Bot’s optics swept the hall — a constant reminder that here, at the end of the Trade Route, mistakes could be fatal.

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
Firetown Courier Station provides a dark, high-stakes backdrop:
- The Silver Crate — The Guarding Bot sounds a klaxon: a silver-lined crate bound for the Federal Copper Plant is flagged as suspicious. Its manifest still reads “medical supplies,” but the driver swears it rattles like ore chunks. As the Station Manager hesitates, the shortwave console crackles: “SECURITY BREACH — BOMB DETECTED.” A thunderous explosion rocks the foyer. PCs must uncover who planted the device — smugglers, saboteurs, or worse.
