FEDERAL BREEDING & TRAINING STATION FOR VEYRAS (FBTSV)
Overview
- Location: Hope
- Address: Situated in the Farmbelt around Hope
- Surroundings: Near the Federal Courier Service staging grounds; adjacent to rotational grazing strips
The Federal Breeding & Training Station for Veyras (FBTSV) is one of the most important symbols of cooperation between Exohumans and the Senti Tribe following the Great War.
Founded in 2632, the station was established to solve a problem that had frustrated both civilizations: the inability to successfully breed Veyras outside their native steppe environment.
For generations, the Senti possessed unrivaled practical knowledge of Veyra behavior, herd structures, and the raising of Nara-Vey. Exohuman researchers contributed veterinary medicine, biological sciences, and systematic breeding methodologies. By combining both traditions, the station achieved the first successful captive breeding program in recorded history.
The FBTSV therefore serves not only as a breeding and training facility, but also as a living monument to reconciliation after the war and a demonstration of the benefits of cooperation between Humans and Native Tribes.
Today, the station breeds and trains Veyras for the Federal Courier Service, the Federal Sheriff, local sheriff offices, scientific expeditions, and other organizations authorized by the Federal Allotment Agency.
Operations are supervised jointly by Exohuman specialists and Senti advisors. Animal allocation is coordinated through the Federal Allotment Agency and approved by GAIA in accordance with transportation priorities, environmental quotas, and Peace Treaty regulations.
Architectural Significance
A low-energy, wind-sheltered complex optimized for light mounts and quiet handling within the Habitual Belt’s perpetual twilight.
- Materials: Local stone plinths, timber frames, reed-thatch windbreaks; limewash stall walls for visibility.
- Lighting (No Electric High-Bays): Clerestories, slit windows, and light wells; after-hours, hooded oil lamps and baseboard Luminofera dualis runs; ambient twilight outdoors, no floodlights.
- Ventilation & Acoustics: Cross-vented barns with ridge vents; sanded track surface and rubber pavers reduce noise.
- Energy Use: Manual pumps to troughs, hand-crank winches for tack hoists; gravity-fed sand traps for track grooming.
Building Structure
Staff House & Administration
- Front Office & Records: Mount rosters, timing ledgers, GAIA orders, visitor sign-in; analog seal press cabinet (dispatch pairing).
- Station Manager’s Office: Briefings, allocation sign-offs, incident logs.
- Common Room & Tea Stove: Notice board, first-aid kit, recovery cots.
- Dormitories (with Showers): Bunks for handlers and exercise riders.
- Laundry & Kit Store: Lockers, linens, saddle/blanket racks.
- Restrooms: AuroraSan stalls; wash-basins.
Veyra Research & Cooperation Center
- Joint Research Hall: Shared workspace for Exohuman veterinarians, biologists, and Senti Herdkeepers.
- Breeding Records Archive: Stores lineage ledgers, behavioral studies, fertility records, and historical breeding data. * Cultural Exchange Chamber: Used for training sessions between Senti advisors and station personnel.
- Observation Gallery: Allows researchers to observe herd behavior without disturbing the animals. * Conference Room: Hosts scientific reviews, allocation meetings, and interspecies cooperation councils.
The center serves as the intellectual heart of the station and is widely regarded as one of the most successful Human-Senti cooperation projects in the Federal Confederation.
Barn V-1 (Breeding & Fawning)
- Brood Stalls & Fawn Pens: Quiet bays; lineage ledgers; low-glare lamps.
- Vet Bay (Clean): Exams, inoculations, neonatal care; small quarantine.
- Feed Room: Locked bins; mineral/salt trays; ration scales.
Barn V-2 (Training & Conditioning)
- Light Tack Hall: Saddles, breastcollars, bitless bridles; fit-gauge rack; stitch bench.
- Gait & Agility Lane: Slalom posts, hurdle rails, balance bridge.
- Recovery Stalls: Cool-down halters; rubdown hooks; water tubs.
Tracks & Grounds
- Sprint Oval (400 m): Timing posts, split flags, sand traps.
- Endurance Loop (km-marked): Wayfinding stakes emulate permitted-corridor markers.
- Observation Deck: Raised gallery for judges, trainers, and visiting FCS clerks.
- Loading Apron: Mount steps, scale plate, dispatch satchel counter.
- Manure Bays & Compost Pads: Covered bins; farm collection gate.
Service Block
- Hoof & Fetlock Clinic: Trimming stands, wraps; no iron shoes standard.
- Tack Wash & Dry Room: Hooks, racks, oiling and wax table.
- Canteen Nook: Meals provided by the Federal Kitchen (staff).
- Restroom: AuroraSan stall and hand-wash.
Look and Feel
Dry sand, soft hooffalls, and the quick hiss of breath along the sprint oval. Ledger boards list lap splits under hooded lamps; light tack hangs in tidy rows. The air carries linseed, waxed leather, and clean straw; conversation stays low so mounts keep their nerves.

- Controlled Access: Stall and tack-room analog key control; seal cabinet under ledger lock.
- Chain-of-Custody: Mount IDs, timing slips, and dispatch seals counter-signed at apron.

Player Interaction Possibilities (Legal and Illegal)
Legal:
- Receive GAIA assignments as exercise rider, handler, or timing clerk.
- Collect/return dispatch satchels and allocation seals for the FCS.
- Assist with quarantine rotations or endurance waypoint checks.
Illegal:
- Swap timing slips to boost black-market value of a mount.
- Fit contraband “quiet wraps” to mask hoof signatures on corridor sand.
- Forge allocation seals to divert a prime express pair.
- Dope or salt feed to sabotage a rival rider’s pairing.
Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
- Adventure Hook — The Trainer Who Vanished: During an early-shift drill under perpetual twilight, a young Veyra returns to the loading apron without its trainer. The lunge line’s quick-release is intact; the knot is neatly re-tied with an unusual left-handed turn. A search of the sprint oval, endurance loop, and barns finds no scuff marks, no blood, no broken rails — no obvious trace. The Federal Sheriff deputizes the party to investigate …
