BERMUDA INC. MANUFACTORY

Overview

Opened in late 2626, Bermuda Inc. consolidated salvage processing, molding workshops, finishing bays, and administrative offices under one corrugated‑metal roof. From here Vaclav Bermuda oversaw the transformation of Last Frontier wreckage into glass flasks, jerrycans, mugs, drinking glasses, bowls, and versatile composite vessels — half destined for Mistspring Water Inc. and Space Drinks Inc., the rest for frontier traders, manufactories, households, and workshops.

Nationalized by the Federal Confederation after the Great War in 2631, Bermuda Inc. molds and processes were transferred to the Federal Pottery in Hope for a more sustainable production of dishes, drinking glasses, bottles mugs and vessels.

Architectural Significance

  • Construction Material: Corrugated steel cladding bolted to upcycled Last Frontier cargo‑frame beams
  • Floors: Single open hall with low mezzanine for offices and quality control
  • Design Purpose: Linear salvage‑to‑product flow — unloading at east dock, rough crushing and melting at west, molding and finishing in between

Exposed support girders, patched‑together paneling, and skylights salvaged from shuttle viewports give the manufactory a rugged, utilitarian aesthetic befitting its upcycling mission.

Building Structure

Ground Floor

  • Intake Bay: Dock doors for salvaged‑parts crates; conveyor unloads glass/plastic into primary sorting area
  • Crush & Melt Stations: Glass shards and plastics fed into shard crushers and low‑pressure melters—powered by Quantum Fusion Battery modules
  • Molding Workshops: Silicone and metal molds for flasks, jerrycans, mugs, glasses, bowls and custom vessels; manual press stations alongside semi‑automated injection‑press rigs
  • Finishing Bay: Hand‑inspected seams ground smooth; screw‑tops, handles and rims affixed, then steam‑cleaned
  • Dispatch Bay: East‑facing roll‑up door for New Kourou Courier Service carts; packed crates await daily pickup

Mezzanine & Offices

  • Quality Control Lab: Benches with hydrometers (for water‑bottle seal tests), impact‑resistance rigs, and binocular microscopes
  • Design Office: Draft tables strewn with sketches of new vessel prototypes and color‑blend recipes
  • Administration Nook: Desk for supply orders, Bottle‑Party schedules, and accounting ledgers
  • Break Corner: Simple benches and a rack of empty prototypes for staff tasting/review and two genderneutral AuroraSan restrooms

Look and Feel

Stepping inside, you hear the whirr of shard crushers and the hiss of steam‑jets cleaning fresh products. The air smells faintly sweet—molten glass and plastic—underscored by metal‑smoke tang. Piles of colored shard cones glint under harsh work‑lights. Workers in oil‑stained aprons toss mold casts into presses while Bottle Collectors offload empty crates in a steady rhythm. Overhead panels patched from ship hulls leak spot‑light beams, casting angular shadows on the concrete floor mottled with colored dust.

Roles and Responsibilities

Human & ExoHuman Staff

  • Plant Director (1): Oversees daily throughput, major contracts, and Bottle‑Party coordination
  • Molding Technicians (4): Operate press rigs, change molds, and monitor melt‑pot temperatures
  • Finishing Crew (3): Hand‑grind seams, fit closures, buff surfaces, and steam‑sanitize each item
  • QC Analysts (2): Test seal integrity, impact resistance, and dimensional tolerances; maintain quality logs
  • Supply Clerk (1): Manages reclaimed‑parts procurement from Free State depot and schedules Bottle Parties
  • Warehouse Dispatcher (1): Coordinates outgoing crates with New Kourou Courier Service runs
  • Sales Representatives (2): Conduct onsite appointments, negotiate B2B contracts, and manage client accounts

Automated Staff

  • Maintenance Bot(1): The Maintenance Bot feeds scrap into melter, maintains temperature cycles
  • Manual Labor Bot(1): The Manual Labor Bot diverts oversized shards and foreign debris from mash before melting
  • Cleaning Bot (1): The Cleaning Bot was responsible for the scrub of floors and equipment surfaces

Public Access & Operations

  • Factory Tours: By appointment only — Plant Director hosts small groups to demonstrate molding and finishing.
  • Operating Hours: 5 AM–3 PM daily for production
  • Sales Office Hours: 9 AM–5 PM Mon–Fri for onsite B2B appointments with Sales Representatives

Security Measures

  • Locked Perimeter Gate: Secured after hours; keys issued only to Director, Supply Clerk, and Finishing Lead
  • Manual Alarm Whistle: A compressed-air horn at the annex window blasts three long notes to summon nearby Guarding Troopers.
  • Regular Patrols: A local Guarding Troopers Unit patrols the Industrial Ring regularly

Player Interaction Possibilities

  • Courier Delivery: As an employee of the New Kourou Courier Service, pick up or deliver crates of reclaimed parts or finished wares between the Free State depot and the manufactory.
  • Apply for Employment: Submit your résumé to the admin office for positions as molding technician, finishing crew member, QC analyst, or warehouse dispatcher.
  • Contract Negotiation: Meet with the Supply Clerk or Plant Director to arrange a production contract for your settlement’s custom bottle, jerrycan, or vessel needs.

Illegal interactions:

  • Mold Theft: Steal proprietary molds for black‑market production of high‑value flasks or jerrycans.
  • Sabotage Melter: Tamper with temperature regulators to ruin a day’s run of product.

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters

Adventure Hook Example:

  • Poisoned Bottles Blackmail: Talia Maren receives a ransom note: pay 10 000 Kourou by next Friday or more Quickdraw goods get laced. The blackmailer claims one water bottle is already lethal. She hires the PCs for a covert op — find the poisoned bottle before it’s pulled, trace how the supply chain was breached, and unmask whether the culprit is an insider. Clues might include mismatched seal stamps in the Receiving Dock, altered ledger lines, a missing refill crate, or Hoos resin on a forbidden mezzanine door. A staged payout sting at the Dispatch Platform could nab the perp — or trigger a desperate sabotage attempt …
