THERESA VAROSS

Race and Faction

Background

Theresa Vaross was born on September 3, 2611, aboard the Last Frontier. She is the daughter of the renowned physicist Professor Malek Vaross and Angelina Vaross, an accomplished engineer. Tragically, her mother died during the crash landing of the Last Frontier in 2625, when Theresa was just 14 years old. This profound loss shaped her determination to contribute to the welfare of Exohuman society on VOI 700 D.

Following the crash landing, Theresa and her father settled in New Kourou, where her father’s significant contributions to science influenced her deeply. Inspired by his commitment to progress, Theresa pursued a career in medicine, enrolling in the prestigious Danah-Wanah University. She graduated in 2636 with a master’s degree in medicine and subsequently joined a post-graduate PhD program.

As part of her role in the Education and Training Department of the Federal Health Agency, Theresa is responsible for facilitating training programs for medical personnel in New Kourou’s Medical Station as well as the practices of General Practitioners in Firetown, Hope, and Morningstar. Her work supports the Federal Confederation’s mission to provide free and accessible healthcare to all citizens.

Relationship with Jane Mendoza

Theresa Vaross first met Jane Mendoza in 2619, when Jane became a protégé of her father, Professor Malek Vaross, at the Last Frontier University. At the time, Theresa was just eight years old, too young to fully understand Jane’s past or the weight of her presence in their home. However, in the years that followed, Jane became an unofficial part of the Vaross family.

Following the crash landing of the Last Frontier in 2625, Jane moved in with Theresa and Malek in New Kourou, helping her father with various scientific projects. At first, Theresa admired Jane’s sharp intellect and unwavering confidence. Though their age gap prevented them from forming a traditional sibling bond, Jane’s presence was undeniable—both as an inspiration and as an enigma.

But their ideologies began to diverge. Theresa’s father believed in using science to heal and improve lives, while Jane grew restless, frustrated with the constraints placed upon technological progress. Their home, once a place of shared ideas and collaboration, became the stage for increasingly heated debates between Malek and Jane. Their final break came with the outbreak of the Great War. Jane, now a highly skilled engineer, chose to join the Volunteer Army of Man as a weapons specialist, a decision Malek vehemently opposed. A man of science and peace, he rejected the idea of using technology as a tool for warfare.

Malek strongly opposed this decision, believing that technology should serve humanity’s survival and progress rather than warfare. Their final conversation ended with Malek expelling Jane from their home, making it clear that he did not welcome those who sought to use technology for violence.

Jane left without another word, severing ties with Malek and Theresa.
