FORGE OF ATRANA (HEADQUARTERS & MANUFACTORY)
Overview
-
Address: Atrana Access Trail
Surroundings: Nestled near the old hunting paths and quarry ridges, 2.5 km from the Townwall of Morningstar
Founded in 2626 by famed huntsman and survivalist Jack Dolany, the Forge of Atrana began as a modest artisan workshop, built high in the mountains to craft a single, revolutionary weapon: the Windstrike Rifle — a silent, precise tool designed for survival in the unforgiving wilds of VOI 700 D.
For its first two years, the Forge operated quietly, producing small batches of gear for trappers, scouts, and frontier explorers. But everything changed with the outbreak of the Great War in 2628. Requisitioned by the Volunteer Army of Man (VAM), the Forge rapidly expanded into a full-scale weapons manufactory. At its wartime peak, it became the principal arms supplier of the Free State of Settlers, churning out not only Windstrike Rifles but also the rugged and easily assembled Ironstrike Slingshot — ideal for mass deployment to militia units and scout patrols alike.
Powering this operation was the Atrana Ridge Wind Farm — a sprawling array of turbines perched along the ridgeline, feeding electricity into a dedicated Tier-1 Energy Redistribution Node (ERN). This made the Forge one of the few major Beta Age facilities to run independently of the scarce and tightly regulated Quantum Fusion Batteries (QFBs).
In 2631, following the Peace Treaty and a sweeping set of federal arms restrictions, the Forge was permanently decommissioned. Today, its scorched walls and rusting doors stand as a silent testament to settler ingenuity, wartime urgency — and a brief, turbulent moment when innovation was forged not in labs, but on the edge of survival.

Look and Feel
Before the Great War (2626–2628)
Warm timber walls, the scent of oiled wood and iron filings, and the rhythmic clang of a single hammer set the tone. Light filtered in through wide shutters, catching on hanging tools and curling smoke from the hearth. It was a place of craft and calm, where Jack Dolany welcomed visitors with a nod and a story. Dusty blueprints were pinned to rafters. The workbench was worn but cared for. The Forge felt more like a communal hearth than a factory — simple, honest, alive.
During the Great War (2628–2631)
Everything grew louder, hotter, and darker. Twin furnaces roared day and night. Conveyor chains clanked overhead, and the stink of scorched alloy clung to every wall. Red warning lights flickered in the smog-thick air, while Guarding Bots moved through the corridors with mechanical precision. The wooden charm gave way to hardened steel and sealed vaults. Whispers of tension echoed in every step — workers rushed, soldiers watched, and the Forge itself seemed on edge. It no longer welcomed; it produced, protected, and endured.

Security Measures
Before the Great War (2626–2628)
Founder’s Watch: Jack Dolany personally safeguarded the Forge. As a skilled marksman and former survivalist, he defended the premises with his handcrafted
Windstrike Rifle, often sleeping in the forge during tense periods.
No Formal Perimeter: There were no fences, patrols, or automated systems — Dolany relied on trust, community respect, and his own reflexes.
During the Great War (2628–2631)
Player Interaction Possibilities
Legal Interactions:
Before the Great War (2626–2628)
Commission a Custom Tool or Weapon: PCs may request a personalized hunting knife, bow, or early-model Windstrike Rifle — if they bring materials or barter with Dolany.
Observe the Artisan at Work: Dolany sometimes allowed young settlers or curious tinkerers to watch or even assist in simple crafting tasks.
Learn the Trade: Ambitious PCs with a technical background may ask to apprentice under Dolany for artisanal forging and repair techniques.
During the Great War (2628–2631)
Deliver Supplies or Components: PCs might be contracted to deliver rare alloys, encrypted schematics, or missing rifle components under VAM orders — with possible complications en route.
On-Site Assignment: PCs enlisted in the VAM might be temporarily assigned to production oversight, materials handling, or inventory verification — putting them in proximity to restricted areas.
Report Defective Weapons: Act as troubleshooters responding to field complaints, investigating malfunctions in Windstrike Rifles or Ironstrike Slingshots to refine future batches.
Illegal Interactions:
Before the Great War (2626–2628)
Recover Prototype Weapons: PCs might breach the sealed vaults beneath the War Office to retrieve forbidden tech — triggering bots, drones, or legacy alarms.
Repurpose Materials: Steal forge alloys, casting molds, or unused rifle parts to use in unauthorized blacksmithing or underground arms trade.
During the Great War (2628–2631)
Spy for a Rival Faction: Infiltrate the Forge disguised as workers or messengers to gather intelligence on VAM production capacity, techniques, or weaknesses.
Smuggle Out Components: PCs may be bribed or tempted to smuggle out rifle barrels, trigger assemblies, or energy stabilizers for the black market or resistance cells.
Incite Internal Sabotage: PCs could incite overworked forgeworkers to cause small “accidents” that delay production, interfere with quotas, or damage molds beyond repair.
Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
The Forge of Atrana serves as an excellent ruin site, factional flashpoint, or historic backdrop:
Fire in the Mountains: During the height of the Great War, the Forge of Atrana becomes the target of a surprise strike by the Alliance of Native Tribes. As night falls over the Atrana foothills, tribal warriors descend on the manufactory, aiming to cripple exohuman weapon production. Jack Dolany scrambles to rally defenders, Guarding Bots deploy to the perimeter, and chaos erupts in the smelting tunnels. The PCs must choose: defend the Forge against destruction — or help the attackers bring it down from within. Will the Forge stand, or will its fire be extinguished forever?
