LAURIN’S ARMORY & OUTDOORS
Overview
- Location: Seedway 8, Hope
- Surroundings: Adjacent to Medical Station of Hope
Opened in April 2626 by Magda Laurin — the widow of a Guarding Trooper who fell during the Last Frontier crashland rescue — Laurin’s Armory & Outdoors supplied Hope’s settlers with self‑defense weapons, trapping gear, and river‑fishing equipment. Drawing on her late husband’s service and frontier necessity, Magda stocked everything from Windstrike Rifles to snares hand‑woven from freight‑cable. For five years, the shop stood as both a memorial and lifeline to ExoHumans navigating the wilds around Hope.
Following the 2631 Communard reforms and the hunting and firearms ban, Laurin’s Armory was nationalized and its license revoked. In the Gamma Age, the building was repurposed as a secure annex to the Medical Station, storing surgical tools and emergency med‑kits — Magda herself reassigned as Center Receptionist in the Federal Allotment Center of Hope.
Architectural Significance
- Construction Material: Rough-hewn local lumber combined with salvaged structural elements from the Last Frontier — bent hull struts, cargo-frame ribs, and alloy reinforcement plates visibly bolted into the timber frame. The building sits on a low stone-and-rubble footing to keep it above Hope’s constant mud.
- Floors: 1
- Façade: A utilitarian frontage of weathered wood and exposed metal bracing. A brass-lettered sign hangs above the entrance, depicting crossed rifle and medical caduceus — a deliberate symbol of protection and survival rather than aggression. Narrow anti-shatter canopy windows are set deep into the walls.
- Design Purpose: Built to secure high-value and dangerous equipment in an unstable frontier environment. The structure prioritizes durability, controlled access, and repairability over comfort or aesthetics, reflecting Hope’s pragmatic, farm-first mentality.

Look and Feel
Stepping inside, you’re greeted by the metallic tang of gun‑oil and leather. Rows of polished barrels and glinting blades line the walls. Dim lanterns swing from high beams, throwing mottled light across trap‑jaws and sling rigs. The air hums with quiet industry — the click of crossbow cocking, the snap of a new snare being tested, Magda’s calm instructions to a would‑be marksman down the target lane. Despite the grim purpose, there’s an atmosphere of solidarity: each tool carries the promise of safety and self‑reliance on the frontier.

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
Laurin’s Armory can serve as a preparation hub, clandestine weapons cache, or the scene of a heist for banned gear. PCs might barter for explosives, learn survival tricks, or find themselves trapped by a malfunctioning spring trap in the workshop maze.
