HARVEST REST CEMETERY
- Type: Site (cemetery)
- Location: 500 m east of Hope, in the Farmbelt zone
- Elevation: ≈ 30 m above town level on gently sloping farmland
Overview
By popular petition, the Settler’s Council approved a soil-burial ground on 1 May 2626, and Harvest Rest Cemetery opened on 1 July 2626. Spanning 1 200 m², the plot—ringed by young groves of Mirel Leaf trees — served Hope’s 4 000 residents until 8 April 2631, when Peace Treaty edicts ended terrestrial interments. In its five-year span the cemetery received 80 graves (30 Volunteer Army of Man soldiers, 50 civilians), offering a solemn counterpoint to the surrounding grain fields and Arla River vistas.

Look and Feel
Beta Age (2626–2631)
Harvest Rest sits amid waving Zelor Grain stalks under a veil of Arla River mist and the distant silhouette of the Atrana and Tijonara ridges. Neat rows of simple basalt headstones line wood-plank paths; each grave is crowned with a small Mirel Leaf wreath. The air carries the scent of damp soil, ripening grain, and faint incense from memorial tokens. Hoo-drawn hearses creak over furrowed earth, mourners pause beside field-stone benches, and the only sounds are low prayers and the whisper of tropical breezes through stalks.
Gamma Age (post-2631)
Without caretakers, prairie grasses and saplings have blurred the grave rows into gentle humps. Headstones tilt beneath vines; moss weaves over carved names. Sunlight filters through drifting mist and tall grain—now wild—casting dappled light across the rough-hewn logs of a collapsed entry gate. Insects trill where Hoo hooves once trod, and the hush is broken only by the distant rush of the Arla River and the sigh of wind through young woodland.
History / Legacy
Creation: Designed and laid out by the Land Allocation Office with settler volunteers.
Closure: Peace Treaty prohibition on burial grounds (April 2631) forced shutdown and reversion to ship-era protocols.
Rewilding: Prairie and forest edge species reclaimed the site within five years, transforming it into a quiet meadow used only by clandestine mourners.
Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
Beta Age Hook – “Last Mile to Harvest Rest” A beloved settler’s will demands burial at Harvest Rest before the next deluge—PCs must guide a fragile body-cart across soggy fields beset by electrical storms and opportunistic bandits, ensuring the rite completes on consecrated ground under forever-twilight.
Gamma Age Hook – “Seeds of Rebellion” Individualist mourners plan a covert memorial service at Harvest Rest, defying treaty bans. Deputized by the Local Sheriff’s Office, PCs choose to protect the gathering from federal patrols—risking quota penalties—or shut it down to uphold the law, all while unearthing the cemetery’s forgotten wartime secrets.
