The Vazhak Region is an uncharted and highly dangerous expanse that stretches across vast portions of the Dark Side of VOI 700 D. While often described as a singular region, “Vazhak” is not a scientifically defined territory but rather a placeholder term used by Exohumans to describe all unknown and unmapped areas beyond the Ralar Region and Dark Sea Region.
Its vast, unstable ice fields stretch endlessly beyond the known world. Due to its hostile conditions, neither Exohumans nor Native Tribes have attempted to settle the area. Native myths paint Vazhak as a land of cursed ice and wandering spirits, a place forsaken by the stars.
Expeditions into the region have proven deadly. The first recorded Exohuman expedition — known as “Vazhak I” — was launched in 2627 and vanished without a trace. The follow-up “Vazhak II” expedition in 2628 returned with only four survivors out of an 16-person team. Their reports included fragmented accounts of strange environmental anomalies, powerful magnetic storms, and deep crevasses that seemingly opened and closed at will. No trace of the first expedition was ever found — no bodies, equipment, or wreckage — fueling speculation about what fate befell them. No further expeditions have been attempted, due in part to the restrictions imposed by the Peace Treaty between Exohumans and the Alliance of Native Tribes.
Since only 5–10% of the region has been surveyed, its true geography remains unknown. It is speculated that hidden seas, lakes, or even mountains could exist beyond the ice fields, but no one knows for certain. What is clear is that Vazhak represents the final frontier of the Dark Side, a region where reality itself seems to bend and where the planet holds its darkest secrets.
The general temperature range in the Vazhak Region spans from -50°C in its faintly illuminated borderlands near the Habitual Belt to below -80°C in its deep, uncharted interior. Wind chill, lack of geothermal activity, and extreme weather phenomena contribute to its reputation as one of the coldest and most hostile environments on VOI 700 D.
The Vazhak Region is defined by its extreme isolation, unpredictable terrain, and environmental anomalies. Unlike the geothermal-heated landscapes of the Ralar Region, Vazhak is an unrelenting ice desert with unstable terrain and a near-complete absence of life.
While still deadly, temperatures here range between -50°C and -70°C, and the terrain is somewhat more navigable.
No known plant life exists in the Vazhak Region. Unlike the Ralar Region, which has geothermal caves supporting fungal and bioluminescent species, Vazhak's frozen wastelands are devoid of any biological markers. If life exists, it may be deep beneath the ice, inaccessible to current explorers.
Due to its extreme conditions, Vazhak was believed to be devoid of life. However, limited evidence gathered from the 2628 expedition suggests that certain organisms might have adapted to its hostile landscape. With 90-95% of Vazhak unexplored, many questions remain unanswered.

There are no known Native Tribes or Exohuman settlements within the Vazhak Region. Native myths refer to Vazhak as a “land of death”, a cursed place where the spirits of the lost roam eternally. The total absence of even nomadic hunter-gatherer tribes supports the belief that no intelligent life has ever lived there.
The Vazhak Region offers a blank slate for high-stakes campaigns set in an environment that blurs the line between sci-fi survival and psychological horror. Unlike other regions, which are partially mapped or culturally rich, Vazhak is pure unknown — a world of extremes where even time and space may feel unstable. Since only the borderlands have been partially explored (up to 5–10%), most of the region can be freely invented by Dungeon Masters, offering unparalleled storytelling flexibility.
Worldbuilders should consider microclimatic contrast: while the Ralar- and Habitual Belt-bordering zones are somewhat navigable and partially mapped, the deeper interior of Vazhak plunges into colder, more violent, and possibly anomalous terrain. It’s a perfect setting for forgotten technologies, alien ruins, or entities adapted to permanent ice and total darkness. Below the surface lies a second world — an abyssal ecosystem entirely cut off from the rest of VOI 700 D, offering terrifying new lifeforms, extreme pressure zones, and mysteries trapped beneath the ice.
