The Naka Tula is a low, winged cave predator native to both the karst systems of the Asari Region (Eastern Equatorial Section) and the volcanic tunnel networks of the Ralar Region on the Dark Side of VOI 700 D. Neither serpent nor bat, it is a specialized quadruped that crawls silently along stone and glides short distances using ribbed, manta-like patagial wings.
Adapted for darkness, the Naka Tula relies on subtle sensory pores along its snout to read heat and vibration, allowing precise ambushes in windless caverns. It preys on cave fish, small mammals, and invertebrates (including Bero Hiki), and will scavenge when opportunities arise.
During the Beta Age, hides and wing membranes were illegally traded for “cave leather.” Populations declined regionally until the Peace Treaty of 2631 imposed a full hunting ban, with narrow exceptions for self-defense.
