LAURIN’S ARMORY & OUTDOORS

Overview

Opened in April 2626 by Magda Laurin — the widow of a Guarding Trooper who fell during the Last Frontier crashland rescue — Laurin’s Armory & Outdoors supplied Hope’s settlers with self‑defense weapons, trapping gear, and river‑fishing equipment. Drawing on her late husband’s service and frontier necessity, Magda stocked everything from Windstrike Rifles to snares hand‑woven from freight‑cable. For five years, the shop stood as both a memorial and lifeline to ExoHumans navigating the wilds around Hope.

Following the 2631 Communard reforms and the hunting and firearms ban, Laurin’s Armory was nationalized and its license revoked. In the Gamma Age, the building was repurposed as a secure annex to the Medical Station, storing surgical tools and emergency med‑kits — Magda herself reassigned as Center Receptionist in the Federal Allotment Center of Hope.

Look and Feel

Laurin’s Armory & Outdoors feels less like a shop and more like a working supply post — a place where mistakes can cost lives.

The air smells of gun oil, leather straps, damp wood, and river mud tracked in on boots. Metal hull struts from the Last Frontier run visibly through the walls and ceiling, their scarred surfaces catching the lantern light.

Weapons and tools are displayed without ornament: rifles locked into wall mounts, traps laid out for inspection, fishing gear hanging from pegboards. The steel-topped counter bears scratches from years of use, and the workbench behind it is cluttered with springs, wire snares, spare parts, and half-repaired mechanisms.

Magda Laurin moves with calm authority behind the counter — measured, focused, and watchful. There is no salesmanship here, only instruction and quiet warnings. Every item in the room carries weight, purpose, and consequence. Outside, the soft sounds of rain on wooden planks and distant river flow bleed in through the door, a reminder that beyond these walls, the frontier is always waiting.

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters

Laurin’s Armory can serve as a preparation hub, clandestine weapons cache, or the scene of a heist for banned gear. PCs might barter for explosives, learn survival tricks, or find themselves trapped by a malfunctioning spring trap in the workshop maze.
