The Federal Health Agency (FHA) is the governing institution of the Federal Health Care System (FHCS). It sets policy, manages staffing, oversees the distribution of pharmaceuticals, and coordinates preventive measures such as immunization programs. The FHA ensures that advanced medical care in New Kourou and primary care in Firetown, Hope, and Morningstar remain accessible, regulated, and aligned with federal law.
The FHA was established in 2632 during the Communard reforms led by Aisha Patel. Conceived as a response to the severe energy shortages and medical crises following the Great War, it centralized authority over all healthcare functions of the Federal Confederation. The Federal Health Agency Building in New Kourou became its headquarters.
In its early years, the FHA focused on stabilizing the fragmented post-war health infrastructure. It coordinated immunization drives, standardized medical records through GAIA, and supervised the nationalization of Schreder Pharma Inc. into the Federal Pharma Manufactory (FPM).
In the Beta Age, each reservation maintained its own medical station. After the Great War, severe energy shortages made it impossible to operate advanced facilities outside New Kourou.
In 2632, the FHA restructured the system: the regional medical stations in Firetown, Hope, and Morningstar were downgraded and reorganized into Federal General Practitioner Practices. These practices focused on primary care, screenings, and emergency stabilization.
At the same time, the Medical Station and Federal Hospital of New Kourou became the exclusive hub for advanced treatments, including surgeries supported by Medical Bots and nanomedicine. Complex cases from the outer reservations were transferred there via the Federal Courier Service.
Throughout the Gamma Age, the FHA continues to manage the balance between advanced care in New Kourou and basic services in the outer reservations. It coordinates with the Faculty of Medicine to train health workers and relies on Shellac Record documentation to maintain secure, tamper-proof communication between institutions.
The Federal Health Agency is less about medicine and more about politics, data, and control. PCs are often sent here by the Federal Sheriff to intervene when bureaucracy masks danger:
