THE (KNOWN) WILDLIFE OF THE DARK SEA REGION ON THE DARK SIDE

From A to Z

D

  • Darun – Highly intelligent, octopus-like cephalopod native to the geothermal shorelines of the Dark Sea Region. Unlike most deep-sea creatures, the Darun has developed an advanced problem-solving ability, camouflage adaptation, and tool usage

K

  • Kajanga – Amphibian-fish hybrid, blind yet possessing large, functionless eyes. Known for its longevity and its role in Native myths.
  • Kaurum – Heavily armored scavenger which plays a crucial role in the ecosystem, consuming detritus, decaying organic matter, and the remains of fallen creatures, playing a crucial role in ecosystem balance.

M

  • Motruz – Largest known fish on the planet, reaching 15 meters in length. A powerful apex predator, using echolocation and electroreception to navigate the eternal abyss.

N

  • Nathar – Semi-aquatic mammal highly adapted to both land and sea, using its muscular limbs and webbed feet to traverse the rocky shores, ice caverns, and geothermal pools that characterize its habitat.
  • Nuzar – Bioluminescent filter feeder that thrives in the nutrient-rich geothermal shallows of the Dark Sea Region, particularly along the shores of the Ralar Region.

R

  • Rilzak – Shape-shifting ambush-predator, capable of altering the pigment of its skin to seamlessly blend into its surroundings.

S

  • Shadul – Lurking ambush predator with tentacle-like appendages that ensnare prey in the lightless depths.
  • Sulak – Elongated, serpentine deep-sea hunter with perfect camouflage, striking from the shadows of the abyss.

T

  • Taval – Hard-shelled crustacean-like species native to the warm volcanic shallows and underwater geothermal caves of the Dark Sea Region.

V

  • Vaalith – Bioluminescent deep-sea drifter, glowing in pulsing patterns while using neurotoxic tendrils to ensnare smaller prey.

X

  • Xareth – Stealth-focused mammalian ambush predator, using thermal shifts and electrosense to hunt in low-visibility waters.

Y

  • Yuvah – Small, bioluminescent fish that plays a vital role in the Dark Sea's food chain, acting as a primary food source for apex predators like the Motruz and other deep-sea hunters.

Z

  • Zilkar – Opportunistic ambush predator, hunting in coordinated packs to overwhelm larger creatures.
