SYMBIOSIS MONUMENT

Overview

  • Location: Unity Park, Central Core, New Kourou (opposite Federal Council).
  • Height: 10 meters.
  • Diameter: 20 meters.

The Symbiosis Monument is a symbolic structure located in Unity Park, at the heart of the Central Core in New Kourou, directly opposite the Federal Council building. It stands as a beacon of harmony, reflecting the shared commitment of the Federal Confederation to foster peace and cooperation between diverse cultures and ways of life on VOI 700 D, while emphasizing sustainable coexistence with nature.

Design and Materials

The monument features two interwoven spirals, each symbolizing distinct but interconnected aspects of life:

  • Smooth Spiral: Made from polished, recycled metal, this represents humanity's technological achievements and adaptability.
  • Textured Spiral: Constructed from rougher stone and overgrown with moss, small plants, and other natural elements, it symbolizes nature and Native culture.

The spirals converge at a raised circular platform at the center, which is intricately designed with a mosaic of colored glass and stone. This mosaic depicts a stylized representation of VOI 700 D encircled by human and Native symbols, arranged to illustrate balance and unity.

Interactive Features

Surrounding the monument are installations of wind chimes and gongs, designed to create a sensory experience. These elements are tuned to produce soothing, harmonious sounds when activated by the wind. The melodies draw inspiration from traditional music of both the Native Tribes and the ExoHuman settlers, creating a space for reflection and connection.

Purpose and Significance

The Symbiosis Monument serves multiple purposes:

  • Reflection: Encourages visitors to meditate on the importance of cooperation between humanity and the Native Tribes, as well as the broader relationship with the natural world.
  • Education: Highlights the values of sustainability and unity through its design, materials, and symbolism.
  • Cultural Integration: The inclusion of traditional Native and ExoHuman musical elements and symbols fosters a sense of shared heritage and mutual respect.

Cultural Importance

As one of the most visited landmarks in New Kourou, the Symbiosis Monument has become a focal point for public gatherings, commemorations, and educational events. It is a reminder of the enduring Peace Treaty between the ExoHuman settlers and the Native Tribes, and a symbol of the Confederation’s commitment to sustainable development and cultural harmony.
