MIRIAM KOVACS

Race and Faction

Background

Miriam Kovacs was born aboard the Last Frontier into a family that valued entrepreneurial spirit and independence. During the Beta Age, she worked as a receptionist at her family’s barber shop in Hope, a business that thrived on cutting-edge service bot technology. The haircutters were all Service Bots, managed and maintained by her parents.

The signing of the Peace Treaty brought devastation to Miriam’s life. The closure of private businesses and the federal appropriation of service bots meant the end of her family’s livelihood. When their shop was shut down, Miriam’s parents, distraught and unable to cope with the loss, attempted suicide. Miriam found them in time to save their lives, but their brains were irreparably damaged. They have since been unable to work or care for themselves and now live with Miriam, who supports them.

In the aftermath, GAIA assigned Miriam as a receptionist at the Federal Courier Station in Firetown. In 2632, with the opening of the Firetown Bowling Alley, GAIA recognized her organizational skills and appointed her as manager.

Current Role

  • Job Title: Manager of the Firetown Bowling Alley

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees daily operations, including scheduling, resource management, and patron relations.
  • Ensures compliance with Communardist regulations while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for patrons.
  • Manages conflicts and disputes among patrons or staff with firm diplomacy.
  • Maintains the alley’s image as a legitimate establishment while secretly facilitating connections with Outlaws, including the Jane Mendoza Gang.
  • Collects and discreetly redistributes bribes to support her parents and her personal rebellion against Communardism.

Personality

  • Traits: Determined, resourceful, quietly rebellious.
  • Behavior: Miriam is highly professional and composed in her public role, running the Firetown Bowling Alley with precision and efficiency. However, beneath her calm demeanor lies a simmering resentment against the system that destroyed her family’s future.
  • Values: Family and loyalty are central to Miriam’s motivations. While she despises the Communardist system, she channels her anger into actions that support her parents and discreetly undermine the regime.
