GEISHA’S INN
Overview
- Location: Public Services Ring, New Kourou
- Address: SW Avenir Lane 4
- Surroundings: Nestled between old frontier saloons and music lounges in the Entertainment Strip, Geisha’s Bar catered to emotional, sensual, and erotic desires during the more permissive years of the Free State of Settlers.
Geisha’s Inn operated as a seductive nightlife venue in the Beta Age, offering erotic performances in traditional Asian Geisha style, accompanied by dance, music, and private encounters in themed backrooms. It became a known destination for lonely settlers, off-duty Troopers, and curious travelers — offering an escape from the harshness of frontier life.
The venue was run by Atsuko Menderson, a charismatic and respected trans woman who managed the atmosphere, safety, and talent of the performers. The combination of sensual entertainment and private contact — often involving consensual physical intimacy — made the bar controversial, but widely popular.
The bar was officially shut down in April 2631, shortly after the founding of the Federal Confederation, when prostitution was banned under the post-war labor doctrine prioritizing human resource deployment for vital supply chains.
Architectural Significance
- Construction Material: A mix of salvaged wooden panels and polished alloy reinforcements from Last Frontier furnishings, creating a soft, red-lit interior.
- Floors: 1
- Design Purpose: Built for intimacy and discretion — low ceilings, soft lighting, plush seating, and sound-dampening walls.
Though modest in scale, the bar was designed with care, blending aesthetic influences from Earth’s Japanese traditions with a distinct frontier grit. Paper screens, red drapes, and hand-painted Geisha masks gave it a unique flair that stood out in New Kourou’s rougher nightlife district.
Building Structure
Main Floor:
- Bar Counter: Located along the back wall, served drinks and small dishes. Run by two staff members.
- Guest Seating: Twelve small round tables, each with four seats, arranged in a semi-circle facing the stage.
- Performance Stage: Raised platform with velvet curtains, low spotlighting, and props for nightly Geisha-style acts.
Discrete Area:
- Private Backrooms (7): Designed for one-on-one or two-on-one sessions, featuring massage tables, soft bedding, warm lighting, and audio privacy. Access was monitored and required staff escort after guest screening.
Look and Feel
Inside, Geisha’s Bar was warm, sensual, and slightly surreal. Dim red lanterns cast shadows on silk-draped walls while soft string music played in the background. The scent of incense, body oil, and fermented rice wine mingled in the air. Patrons spoke in hushed tones, while laughter and music occasionally erupted from the stage.
Performers moved with grace, creating a dreamlike contrast to the industrial chaos outside. Conversations between guests and dancers blurred the line between longing and performance, love and illusion.
