FEDERAL BREEDING & TRAINING STATION FOR VEYRAS (FBTSV)
Overview
- Location: Hope
- Address: Situated in the Farmbelt around Hope
- Surroundings: Near the Federal Courier Service staging grounds; adjacent to rotational grazing strips
The Federal Breeding & Training Station for Veyras (FBTSV) develops and allocates express mounts for the Federal Confederation. Founded in 2632, the station breeds for speed, agility, and endurance, pairing trained mounts with Express Riders of the Federal Courier Service, deputies of the Federal Sheriff, and other sanctioned couriers. Operations fall under the Federal Allotment Agency with assignments issued by GAIA in compliance with Peace Treaty quotas and permitted-corridor rules. Veyras are native to the Asari steppes; domestication began in the Beta Age and was standardized in the Gamma Age.
Architectural Significance
A low-energy, wind-sheltered complex optimized for light mounts and quiet handling within the Habitual Belt’s perpetual twilight.
- Materials: Local stone plinths, timber frames, reed-thatch windbreaks; limewash stall walls for visibility.
- Lighting (No Electric High-Bays): Clerestories, slit windows, and light wells; after-hours, hooded oil lamps and baseboard Luminofera dualis runs; ambient twilight outdoors—no floodlights.
- Ventilation & Acoustics: Cross-vented barns with ridge vents; sanded track surface and rubber pavers reduce noise.
- Energy Use: Manual pumps to troughs, hand-crank winches for tack hoists; gravity-fed sand traps for track grooming.

- Collect/return dispatch satchels and allocation seals for the FCS.
- Assist with quarantine rotations or endurance waypoint checks.
Illegal:
- Swap timing slips to boost black-market value of a mount.
- Fit contraband “quiet wraps” to mask hoof signatures on corridor sand.
- Forge allocation seals to divert a prime express pair.
- Dope or salt feed to sabotage a rival rider’s pairing.
Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
- Adventure Hook — The Empty Saddle Relay: A prized Veyra gallops back to the loading apron riderless, carrying a sealed express satchel*that should have been delivered two legs ahead. There are no scuffle marks at the last waypoint, and the mount’s hoof wraps were freshly re-tied within the past hour …
