FEDERAL ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE BUILDING

Overview

  • Location: Civic Ring, New Kourou
  • Address: SE Talara Road 3
  • Surroundings: Situated in the Civic Ring, the Federal Administrative Service (FAS) Building neighbors other federal agencies and embodies the essential administrative core of the ExoHuman society.

The Federal Administrative Service (FAS) functions as the primary administrative body of the Federal Confederation. Known for its extensive role in managing the citizen's journey from birth to death, the FAS works closely with the GAIA system to maintain and update each citizen's dataset, ensuring seamless data exchanges with other key federal agencies, such as the Federal Allotment Agency, Federal Health Agency, and Federal Housing Agency. The FAS is also responsible for organizing and officiating key life events, such as weddings and funerals, which have evolved to align with the constraints and values of life on planet VOI 700 D.

Architectural Significance

  • Construction Material: Built with repurposed materials from the Last Frontier, similar to other Civic Ring buildings, representing both practical use and the provisional nature of the settlement.
  • Floors: 3
  • Design Purpose: Designed to facilitate large volumes of citizen interactions and to accommodate various life event ceremonies, symbolizing continuity, adaptability, and community-focused governance.

The FAS Building combines functionality with a sense of solemnity, reflecting the agency’s integral role in the lives of ExoHuman citizens. Its straightforward design mirrors the FAS's mission, reinforcing the ideals of efficient service, adaptability, and resourcefulness.

Key Facilities within the Federal Administrative Service Building

Ground Floor:

  • Citizen Services Desk: Handles citizen inquiries related to administrative matters, including registration for life events such as weddings and funerals.
  • Data Processing Office: This office collaborates closely with GAIA, ensuring that each citizen’s data remains current, accessible, and secure. Data collected here is shared with specialized agencies as needed.

Second Floor:

  • Events Hall: A modest hall designed for weddings, it accommodates small gatherings for marriage ceremonies, reflecting the modesty mandated by resource constraints. It includes seating for the immediate family of the couple.
  • Federal Mortician’s Office: Houses the appointed Federal Mortician responsible for organizing funerals and other end-of-life ceremonies according to the traditions of each reservation.

Third Floor:

  • Administrative Offices: Includes offices for FAS executives and clerical staff who manage the agency’s day-to-day functions and oversee its administrative responsibilities.
  • Training and Meeting Rooms: Dedicated spaces for staff training, inter-agency collaboration meetings, and workshops focused on the continuous improvement of FAS services.

Security Measures

Given the sensitive nature of the FAS’s responsibilities, the building employs specific security protocols:

  • Checkpoints: Two Deputies of the Federal Sheriff manage building entry points to verify the identities of citizens attending events or accessing services.
  • Data Protection Systems: The agency utilizes GAIA’s data security systems to protect personal information, restricting access to authorized personnel only.

Emergency Alert System: An analog alert system links the FAS to the Federal Sheriff’s Headquarters for swift response in emergencies.
