THE (FORMER) FEDERAL LIBRARY OF HOPE

- Surroundings: The Federal Library of Hope was centrally located in the settlement’s Public Services Ring, next to the Federal Hostel and Saloon of Hope.
The Federal Library of Hope, the last addition to the Federal Library System, was opened in June 2635. Designed to provide curated knowledge and literature to the community, it embodied the Federal Confederation’s values of education, culture, and resource-efficient knowledge sharing. Tragically, the library was destroyed in a fire in January 2636, leaving the settlement without a central knowledge hub.
In response to this loss, the Federal Council announced plans to rebuild the library in January 2637 as a lighthouse project, marking it as the first Federal Library constructed with sustainable Mycel-blocks. However, this initiative has become a focal point of political contention. The Individualist Party, opposing the Federal Library System, has pledged to halt the reconstruction if they secure victory in the Federal Council elections in 2636. Furthermore, the party has vowed to close all Federal Libraries and restore access to the Web, aiming to reintroduce digital knowledge and media.
The Incident
In the early hours of January 15, 2636, the Federal Library of Hope caught fire. The blaze began around 3:00 AM, when most of the settlement was asleep, leaving the Federal Sheriff without any eyewitness accounts. The fire consumed the building rapidly, destroying its structure and its entire collection of books.
During the investigation, traces of Hoos were discovered near the site, resembling evidence from previous incidents linked to the Jane Mendoza Gang, raising suspicions of deliberate arson. However, no concrete evidence has been found to officially confirm the gang’s involvement, and the case remains unsolved.
