MUDTAIL GRAZER

Overview

The Mudtail Grazer, known as “Tava-Ruun” by the Orlanda Tribe, is a long-legged, herbivorous mammal adapted to the soft, saturated terrain of the Orlanda Marshes. Resembling a slender marsh deer, it is famed for its wide hooves that prevent it from sinking into the mud, and its quiet, deliberate gait that allows it to navigate the thick reedbeds and shallow pools without disturbing predators.

These peaceful creatures are a vital part of the marshland ecosystem, trimming back dense vegetation and serving as prey for apex predators like the Kardar.

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters

Mudtail Grazers create life in the marsh and serve as both prey and indicators of danger:

  • Encounter Signs: Flattened reed patches and hoof trails can indicate nearby herds
  • Tracking Clues: Predators may be stalking a herd, alerting players to danger
  • Calming Detail: Grazers calmly feeding can signal safety — until they suddenly flee
