MARSHBOUND LURKER

Overview

The Marshbound Lurker, called “Narak-Kol” by the Orlanda Tribe, is a solitary ambush predator that prowls the dense reed thickets and moss-draped islands of the Orlanda Marshes. Its water-repellent fur and retractable claws allow it to traverse both water and land with eerie silence, earning its nickname among Orlanda children: “the shadow that breathes.”

Rarely seen until it strikes, the Marshbound Lurker is a master of patience and stillness, waiting for hours in camouflaged positions to ambush prey.

  • Limbs: Four muscular legs with retractable claws and webbed toes

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters

The Marshbound Lurker offers high-stakes stealth encounters and fits well in both horror and wilderness narratives:

  • Tracking Challenge: Uncovering its trail can reveal strange claw marks and silence zones
  • Lair Encounter: Its mossy nest may conceal stolen gear, bones, or even clues to local mysteries
  • Unexpected Predator: Use it to interrupt long rests or ambush players relying on sound-based detection

Known Predators:
