DESERT STALKER

The Desert Stalker is one of the largest known fish in Lake Arla, which lies between the Desert Side and Habitual Belt of planet VOI 700 D.

The Desert Stalker is characterized by its adaptation to the extremely warm and sunlit climate. It is an apex predator and plays a critical role in the ecology of the lake. Its primary prey are smaller fish such as the Arlian sunfish, but it is known to hunt a variety of other organisms, including insect-like creatures and even smaller members of its own species.

Physique and Appearance

The Desert Stalker reaches a length of up to 2 meters. It has an elongated, slender body that makes it fast and agile in the water. Its skin is dark to protect against the sun's rays, and its eyes are small and positioned high on its head to provide a good view of its prey from below. Its teeth are sharp and strong, perfect for grasping and holding prey.

Life Cycle and Reproduction

The Desert Stalker has a life expectancy of about 20 years. It reaches sexual maturity during the first 3-4 years of its life. During the reproductive season, which coincides with the peak of the annual warm period in Lake Arla, females lay eggs in shallow, sandy areas of the lake, which are then fertilized by males.

After they are fertilized, the females bury the eggs in the sand where they are safe from predators and benefit from the heat of the sun needed to incubate the eggs. The fry hatch after about a month and are completely independent from birth. They spend the first few months of their lives in the shallows seeking protection from larger predators before migrating to the depths of the lake to begin an independent life as hunters.
