The Chain Walk is a highly disciplined and strategic movement formation developed by Outlaws on the Dark Side of VOI 700 D. Designed to maximize group cohesion, awareness, and stealth, it is a signature technique used by those who navigate the planet’s treacherous and pitch-black environments.

The Chain Walk ensures that a group can move as a single, unified entity while minimizing the risk of separation or surprise attacks by predators like Korozo. It is particularly effective in environments where visibility is limited, and threats lurk in the shadows.

Single-File Formation

• Members move in a tight line, each maintaining physical contact by placing a hand lightly on the shoulder or gear of the person in front.
• This prevents individuals from becoming separated in the darkness, where visibility can be virtually nonexistent.

Leader Role

• The leader, typically the most experienced individual or one equipped with night vision, sets the pace and scouts ahead for dangers.
• Silent signals are used to communicate instructions to the group.

Rear Guard

• The last person in line monitors the rear for potential ambushes or following predators.
• The role is rotated periodically to reduce fatigue and ensure constant vigilance.

Communication Signals

• Taps: Two taps on the shoulder mean “stop,” while one tap signals “move forward.”
• Squeezes: A squeeze indicates danger or a change in direction.
• Clicks: A soft tongue click is used to warn the group before speaking softly.

Listening Halts

• The group pauses every few hundred meters to listen for environmental cues, such as distant growls or footsteps.
• Silence is critical during these pauses, as hearing is often the first sense to detect threats.

Spaced Breathing Pattern

• Group members follow a coordinated breathing rhythm led by the leader, reducing noise and improving collective focus.
