=== Races | Economy | Buildings & Organizations === ====== DJANGO’S DINER ====== ===== Overview ===== * **Location:** Public Services Ring, Morningstar * **Address:** SE Public Services Ring Rd 4 * **Surroundings:** In sight of the Morningstar Food Market Founded in January 2627 by Django Marković — a one-time sous-chef from the central kitchen of the Last Frontier — Django’s quickly became the go-to spot for anyone craving a warm, home-style meal after a long shift. The diner’s cozy counter seats and sturdy booths host a revolving cast of frontier workers: smokestack engineers, distillery loaders off-duty from Fogwood Sawmill, and wide-eyed traders fresh in from the river runs. But the real draw? Django’s signature take on Serbian Soup, called "Breakfast" — a cherished family recipe reworked with local mirel leaf, diced bilax root, shredded smoked river ham, and a dash of fermented mist-vinegar — that’ll stick to your ribs and make you feel right at home. Django’s remained open until the end of the Great War on 24 March 2631. Following the war’s close and the rise of Communardism in 2632, all bars, pubs, and restaurants were shuttered and replaced by so called Federal Hostels and Saloons — bringing Django’s chapter to a close when its operations were absorbed into the newly chartered Federal Hostel and Saloon of Morningstar. ===== Architectural Significance ===== * **Construction Material:** Rough-hewn timber logs chinked with river-stone mortar; interior surfaces lined with polished driftwood * **Floors:** 1 * **Façade:** Rough-hewn timber-log walls with open-shutter windows framed in sturdy iron; topped by a hand-carved wooden sign and a glowing neon bowl motif * **Design Purpose:** Simple and sturdy to offer frontier folk a cheery refuge from the cold mist ===== Building Structure ===== **Interior – Main Dining Hall & Kitchen ** * **Counter Seating (8):** Rough-hewn log stools bolted to the floor, each fitted with an iron footrest and hooks for crates or coats * **Booths (4):** Log-frame benches with worn leather cushions seating up to four, each accompanied by a small holographic menu projector * **Open Kitchen:** Exposed timber-beam supports over cast-iron prep tables, with a massive iron cauldron for Django’s bean soup and rows of spice jars reclaimed from his ancestral homeland * **Order Station:** A carved tree-stump podium with iron banding where Django calls out “Soup’s up!”, accented by hanging herb bundles from his kitchen garden * **Restrooms (2):** Two compact unisex units lined with timber paneling and equipped with AuroraSan fixtures, discreetly tucked behind the prep area **Exterior Features** * **Patio Lanai:** A small raised deck with a view of the Public Services Ring * **Herb Planters:** Reclaimed shuttle crates filled with atrana thyme, mistsalt parsley, and smoke-leaf, all used in Django’s cooking * **Grab-and-Go Window:** Side hatch for quick orders of soup-to-go in insulated mugs ===== Roles and Responsibilities ===== * **Django Marković (Founder & Head Chef):** Recipe keeper, soup stirrer, welcomes guests with his signature grin * **Roxy (1 – Butler Bot):** The Butler Bot Takes orders, serves mugs of soup, and clears tables with polite efficiency * **Maria (1 - Cleaning Bot):** The Cleaning Bot swept the floor, cleaned the dishes, the restrooms and the tables. ===== Public Access, Operating Hours and Operational Rhythm ===== * **Public Access:** All ages welcome (under-18s get half-price soup). It’s cozy, but tensions simmer just below the surface. ===== Related Pages and Further Information ===== * Beta Age * Free State of Settlers * Atrana Mountains * Morningstar * Django Marković * Exohuman Nutrition in the Beta Age
