2 | Read-Aloud Descriptions
Initial Read-Aloud (Scene Opening)
The moment you step inside, the world changes.

The harsh reality of the Ralar Region — freezing winds, perpetual darkness and the ever-present sense that everyone out there is watching for weakness — falls away behind you, The air is warm, filtered, clean — a rare comfort on this side of the planet, and something far older than Firetown itself.

A Butler Bot swivels toward you behind the reception counter, lenses narrowing.
“Welcome to the Medical Station of Firetown. State the nature of your visit.”

Beyond the counter, Medical Bots glide between curtained bays with serene, mechanical grace. Their limbs adjust with clicks of perfect calibration; soft chimes announce vitals scans, dosage updates, and triage priorities. A trauma alcove flickers with red indicators as another patient is stabilized with quiet efficiency.

For a moment — just a moment — it feels like stepping back onto the Last Frontier. Back to the ship’s bright halls, the ever-present hum of bots, the certainty that wounds would heal and problems had protocols. Back to a time when everyone lived in effortless high-tech comfort… a paradise they barely noticed until it was gone.

Here, in this bright, humming pocket of order, it almost feels like coming home.

Staged Read-Alouds (Progressive Descriptions)
| **Trigger / Timing** | **Read-Aloud Cue** |
| **If PCs bring an injured ally / PC is hurt** | The nearest Medical Bot pivots sharply toward you, lights shifting green-yellow. “Trauma detected. Initiating stabilization protocol.” It gestures to a pod bed, and the equipment around you whirs to life with clinical urgency. |
| **If PCs approach the trauma alcove** | Four white pod beds, each surrounded by fold-out arms of scanners and injectors. Bright red readouts blink above one bed where another patient with a crushed leg is being sedated. Medical Bots move with eerie calm, ignoring everything except their protocols. |
| **If PCs notice the upstairs observation windows** | Through the narrow glass of the diagnostics suite, you glimpse a single human silhouette — the Chief Physician — bent over a holographic chart, illuminated by the pale glow of a bioscanner. |
| **If the Troopers arrive with the Nameless Man (timing varies by PC plan)** | The doors hiss open and two Guarding Troopers march in, escorting the weakened Nameless Man between them. His steps are uneven and drowsy — the sedative from Station Commander Jace Laux still clouding his senses. The Troopers look irritated and tired from the cold, clearly unaware of any arrangement their commander made.|

3 | Scene Intent
| **Scene Type** | **Player Intents** | **DM Function / Story Link** |
| **Emergency Care · Diagnostics · Covert Extraction** | Get healed · escort or save an injured NPC · outsmart a guarding Trooper · free the Nameless Man without raising alarms | Serve as the execution point of Jace Laux’s “sick transfer” workaround; challenge PCs to distract, deceive, or bypass Medical Bots and a Trooper guard to extract the Nameless Man quietly. |

----

4 | Key (N)PCs + Dynamic Cues
| **Name** | **Role / Affiliation** | **Motivation / Goal** | **Dynamic Cues — How They React in Play** | **Wiki Link** |
| **Dr. Odessa Nmir** | Chief Physician · Human | Maintain perfect care standards · keep Firetown alive | Precise speech, calm authority; dislikes disorder; protective of Medical Bots. | — |
| **Medical Bot A-12** | Trauma Bot | Stabilize emergencies | Clinical monotone; moves fast; interrupts loudly if protocols demand. | Medical Bots |
| **Medical Bot C-9** | Diagnostics Bot | Run scans · prep nanites | Slow, deliberate, humming softly while working. | — |
| **Butler Bot (Reception)** | Intake & triage | Enforce procedures · regulate flow | Polite but immovable; flags anomalies in patient identity or injuries. | Butler Bots |
| **Cleaning Bot (1)** | Sterilization & waste removal | Keep facility spotless | Buzzes underfoot; sprays disinfectant unexpectedly. | Cleaning Bots |
| **Guarding Troopers (2 total)** | Security · Local Station | Deliver the “sick” detainee (Nameless Man) · follow protocol · keep him under watch | Two Troopers arrive with the Nameless Man. They know nothing about the deal with Station Commander Jace Laux. One Trooper stays inside the Emergency Alcove to guard the patient; the other files intake details and then patrols the lobby. Both follow rules strictly. They are alert, sober, and assume the Nameless Man is an important detainee. PCs must use deception, distraction, forged instructions, or stealth to get the guard to step away. | Guarding Troopers |
| **Local Trooper Patrol** | Station-adjacent security | Keep peace · check suspicious cases | Appear during loud disturbances or flagged anomalies. | Guarding Troopers |
| **The Nameless Man** (if escorted here via Laux’s “sick transfer”)* | Detained confused man · mentally unstable | Stay alive · cling to fragments of memory | Trembles, weak from sedatives; avoids eye contact; mutters his mantra (“No talk to others. No name. No confession.”). | — |

5 | Triggers, Clues & Consequences
**Entering / Reception Interactions**

| **Trigger / Cue** | **Immediate Reaction** | **Future Hook / Consequence** |
| 🏥 **PCs bring an injured character** | Butler Bot immediately triages. Medical Bot A-12 begins stabilization without question. | Normal healing procedures (see treatment table). |
| 🧪 **PCs request diagnostics without injury** | C-9 Bot escorts them upstairs. | PCs may learn about new pathogens, mining diseases, local outbreaks. |
| 🪪 **PCs present mismatched or false ID** | Butler Bot freezes and emits a low warning tone. | Trooper patrol alerted unless PCs fast-talk (Persuasion or Deception DC 14). |
| 💼 **PCs attempt to buy / ask about storing medicine** | Bot explains standard protocols; nothing stored long-term. | PCs directed to the Pharmacy of Firetown for purchases. |

---

**Nameless Man “Sick Transfer” Path (Only if negotiated with Jace Laux)**

**Sick Transfer (if initiated via Jace Laux)**

| **Trigger / Cue** | **Immediate Reaction** | **Future Hook / Consequence** |
| 🛬 **Troopers deliver the Nameless Man at the agreed time** | Two Guarding Troopers escort the sedated, trembling old man inside. One Trooper remains to guard him, bored but vigilant. Butler Bot scans him: “Unregistered male. Condition: unstable. Assigning provisional emergency status.” | PCs now have a narrow window before Trooper rotation or routine checks. The guard stays close and alert. |
| 👁️ **PCs approach the Nameless Man** | He recoils, eyes wide, whispering “No… no… don’t… no talk… no name…” His fear spikes sharply. Any attempt to reassure or guide him requires CHARISMA (Persuasion) DC 15 or CHARISMA (Deception) DC 16. | On success: he follows shakily, hands trembling. On failure: he panics, vocalizes fear, and the guard’s attention locks onto the PCs. |
| 🔍 **PCs attempt to covertly escort him toward an exit** | The Butler Bot rolls forward, blocking the way: “Patient movement outside approved zones is prohibited.” The guard lifts his head immediately. | PCs must improvise: distract the guard, disable or mislead the Bot (Hacking DC 14 · Deception DC 13 · physical block risks alarm). |
| ⛔ **If PCs attempt to physically force the Nameless Man to move** | He cries out — loudly. The guard reacts instantly, stepping between them: “Back away from the patient.” | Situation escalates automatically: +1 Trooper arrives next round unless diffused immediately. |
| ⚠️ **If PCs start a brawl or openly attack the guard** | Instant alarm. Butler Bot triggers emergency protocol: “SECURITY BREACH. NOTIFYING LOCAL GUARDING TROOPER STATION.” Nearby Medical Bots retreat to safety alcoves. | Full Trooper response en route. Mission becomes extremely difficult; extraction may require fleeing the entire district. |
| 🏃 **If PCs succeed in escaping the Medical Station with the Nameless Man** | The old man stumbles along with them, terrified and sedated, muttering fragments of his mantra. Even outside, he panics at every passing sound. Within minutes, Guarding Troopers begin sweeping the Public Services Ring — Laux cannot officially intervene to protect the PCs. | PCs must leave Firetown as quickly and quietly as possible. The Nameless Man must be disguised: any settler who recognizes him from the widely circulated notes may raise an alarm. • Travelling through streets requires STEALTH (Group DC 12). • Using the Firetown Courier Service requires a credible cover story (DECEPTION DC 14) or a physical disguise (DISGUISE KIT DC 12). • If spotted: Trooper patrols converge within 1–2 rounds, forcing a chase or improvised hideout. |

---

**Tension, Noise & Security**

| **Trigger / Cue** | **Immediate Reaction** | **Future Hook / Consequence** |
| 📣 **PCs cause loud disruption** | Reception Bot auto-alerts Troopers. | Trooper patrol arrives in 1–2 minutes. |
| 🧪 **PCs attempt to steal nanites or narcotics** | Labs are sealed; alarms trigger quickly. | Trooper intervention + possible arrest. |
| 👣 **PCs sneak into restricted areas** | Detection by Medical Bot C-9 or Dr. Nmir. | PCs escorted out or reported. |

---

**After Treatment**

| **Trigger / Cue** | **Immediate Reaction** | **Future Hook / Consequence** |
| 💊 **PCs request follow-up prescriptions** | Printed chip issued. | They must visit the Pharmacy of Firetown next. |

6 | DM Notes
  * **Purpose of the Scene:**
    - Provide healing, diagnostics, and narrative structure for injuries.
    - Enable the Jace Laux sick-transfer plan to free the Nameless Man.
    - Show the sharp contrast between cold Firetown and sterile Last Frontier tech.

  * **Tone & Atmosphere:**
    - Clinical calm, but tension under the surface.
    - Medical Bots do not negotiate; they follow protocols absolutely.
    - PCs must act smart when sneaking someone in or out.

  * **The Nameless Man Path:**
    - If PCs negotiated with Laux, THIS is where the “Transfer him to the Medical Station” workaround becomes real.
    - Keep the window narrow
    - PCs must move fast or create a diversion.

  * **Dr. Odessa Nmir:**
    - Ethical but pragmatic.
    - If PCs do not lie well, she WILL report anything suspicious.
    - But she will protect legitimate medical emergencies against Trooper overreach.

  * **Trooper Patrol:**
    - Use sparingly.
    - Only triggered by bot alerts, loud disruptions, or suspicious ID issues.
