FEDERAL ORGANIC WASTE RECYCLING PLANT OF FIRETOWN
Overview
* **Location:** Industrial Ring, Firetown
* **Address:** SE Industrial Ring Road 2
* **Surroundings:** Adjacent to the Federal Garbage Collection Center of Firetown.

The Federal Organic Waste Recycling Plant (FOWRP) of Firetown is a standardized state-run facility operated under the Federal Allotment Agency in the Gamma Age. As Firetown’s organics hub within the Federal Waste & Recycling System (FWRS), it converts ExoHuman and organic waste into biogas and nutrient-rich compost. Biogas supplements the settlement’s geothermal grid; compost supports reforestation and outbound agricultural zones via the Federal Courier Service (FCS).

**Typical Firetown Outputs (reference):**
* **Biogas:** ~**1,026 m³/day** (≈756 m³ organics + 270 m³ AuroraSan) ≈ 374,490 m³/year — prioritized to on-site genset and local industrial loads.
* **Compost:** ~**17,325 t/year** finished product — routed via FCS to reforestation projects and affiliated fields in Hope and Morningstar.

Architectural Significance
* **Construction Materials:** Volcanic stone from the Ralar fields (thermal mass, insulation) stitched with salvaged alloy collars/fasteners; ship-deck offcuts in work aisles.
* **Floors:** 1 (tank field + process hall) with an enclosed mezzanine gallery over control and gas-conditioning skids.
* **Design Aesthetic:** Fortress-utility—no windows; double-door airlocks; thick stone vaults; clear lane striping from intake to compost rows.
* **Lighting (No Electric High-Bays):** Hooded oil lamps and baseboard Luminofera runs; task mirrors at stations.
* **Ventilation / Odor Control (Passive):** Thermal stack chimneys and baffled wall flues to charcoal/compost biofilter beds; emergency flare stack for gas overs.
* **Energy Use (Low-Draw):** Biogas-fueled genset for safety interlocks and teletype; mechanical valves/indicators (no electric screens); **geothermal assist loop** stabilizes digester temperatures.

Building Structure
**Process Hall & Yard**
* **Gate & Scalehouse:** Deputy-supervised entry; analog tickets; tare/gross logs for FCS organics and AuroraSan loads.
* **Intake & Pre-Sort Hall:** De-bag tables; contaminant pick; leachate channel to sumps.
* **Anaerobic Digester Field (4 tanks):** Sealed domes with gas caps, manual scum rakes, gas-lift circulation (no electric mixers).
* **Gas Conditioning Skid:** Water knockout, sand/charcoal scrubbing, moisture traps; manifold to **flare** and **genset**.
* **Genset House:** Biogas engine driving low-draw plant electrics; heat recovery loop plus geothermal assist for digester control.
* **Compost Pad & Curing Rows:** Windrows with manual turners (lever jacks), cover tarps, curing bays; finished product shed.
* **Leachate & Stormwater:** Sumps, reed/biofilter cells, inspection hatches.

**Control & Admin (Mezzanine Gallery)**
* **Operations Gallery:** Analog boards and batch charts; hand-crank teletype for GAIA dispatches (throughput, gas yield, compost temps).
* **Lab Nook:** pH, ammonia, solids tests; sample lockers.
* **Administrative Office:** Plant Manager desk, FWRS records locker.
* **Staff Facilities:** Locker alcove, wash-up, small break bench.
* **Restrooms (2):** Staff W.C.s with the AuroraSan System.

Look and Feel
Patchwork, but disciplined. Basalt block vaults meet salvaged-alloy collars around digesters; catwalks tread on ship-deck offcuts; lanes are hand-painted with FWRS bands. Oil lamps and Luminofera bands lay an even, low-draw glow across gauges and clipboards; air pulls steadily through stack flues to biofilters. Valves thunk, rakes scrape, tarps snap — exohuman + gravity mechanics over motors. Analog thermometers, manometers, float glasses, and chalked batch boards carry the story at a glance; logs live on clipboards, not screens. Orderly, repeatable, energy-aware—Dark-Side tough.

* **Analog Alert System:** Analog Siren System tied to the Local Sheriff’s Office.
* **Deputy Patrols:** Scheduled passes through the Industrial Ring; incident logbook countersigned daily.

Player Interaction Possibilities (Legal and Illegal)
**Legal interactions:**
* GAIA work assignment to intake sorting, windrow crew, or flare watch during a surge week.
* Lead/attend a citizen workshop on AuroraSan contamination reduction to raise gas yields.
* Transport compost as an employee of the Federal Courier Service.

**Illegal interactions:**
* Tap the gas manifold to feed a black-market burner; falsify meter charts.
* Salt a compost batch with contraband to bypass Sheriff inspection.
* Stage a spill to access restricted areas during drill confusion.

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
* **Adventure Hook — Ash in the Rows:** A trusted informant warns the Local Sheriff that the Jane Mendoza Gang is piggybacking on compost consignments — bribed plant staff are dosing rows with a lab-made catalyst that boosts intoxicant herb yields downrange. The Sheriff deputizes the PCs for a covert audit: sample curing rows, cross-check assay logs against teletype dispatch slips, and trace route tickets to plots with anomalous growth. Identify the compromised handlers and clerks, flip a weak link, and map the trafficking path between settlements. Shut the network before the next blended load rolls out.
