Context & Historical Background
When Firetown and its sprawling Copper Mine sprang up in 2627, Christos Demopoulos, the founder of Space Drinks Inc., immediately spotted a lucrative gap in the new settlement’s harsh, Dark Side climate: miners finished their shifts frozen to the bone and eager for a fast, portable heat source. Rather than wait for a request, he green-lit an R&D sprint to craft a “pocket star” in liquid form. The result, Red Dwarf Firewater, debuted with the tagline “Carry a star in your belly.” Its heat-reactive ceramic flask warms in the hand once uncorked, and the cinnamon-capsaicin spirit inside delivers a throat-to-stomach blaze that turned it into the after-shift ritual for Firetown crews.
Ingredients
* Filtered Arla River spirit base – triple-distilled grain neutral alcohol.
* Cinnamon-Spice Resin – scraped from imported Terran bark cultures.
* Zanix Pepper Essence – Hope Region hot-house rows; red, elongated pods with sweet-heat profile
* Thermo-Catalyst Pearl – a pea-sized exothermic bead (food-safe alloy + iron oxide) that releases gentle heat for ten minutes after liquid contact, giving the drink its self-warming trait.
* Nano-Honey Syrup — lab-cultured sweetener from Hope’s bio-reactor domes, used to round the fiery bite.

Legacy & Impact
* **Mine-Shift Lifeline** — A single flask was standard kit for copper-shaft crews around Firetown; empty ceramic shells were strung at dorm-door lintels as “good-luck furnaces” that chimed in the volcanic winds.
* **Medicinal Myth** — Pit medics swore a fingertip of Firewater massaged into frost-nipped limbs restored circulation twice as fast (no clinical proof, but the ritual persists in Gamma-Age mining camps).
* **Federal Blacklist** — Post-2631, the catalyst pearls were deemed “non-essential metallurgy,” pushing real Firewater into contraband status and spawning dangerous knock-offs that skip the heat-regulator coating.
Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
Red Dwarf Firewater is more than a drink:

* **Blizzard Buffer** — Hand each PC a flask before a patrol in the Ralar Region or any other region of the Dark Side; on a failed Con save vs. extreme cold they may down a shot for advantage on the next save (the resulting “I’m a furnace!” shout is pure role-play gold).
* **Saboteur’s Spark** — The heat pearls can be extracted and wired into crude incendiary charges or emergency hand-warmers—useful when players need a silent way to thaw machinery or ignite damp tinder.
* **Contraband Cargo** — Since the 2631 blacklist, a single crate can fetch triple value in Firetown bunkers; sneaking it past Federal checkpoints (while its cinnamon-spice aroma tries to give the game away) makes a tense, high-profit side quest.
