ODO
Overview
The Odo is a massive herd grazer native to the Tijonara Steppe in the Asari Region of the Eastern Equatorial Section of the Habitual Belt on VOI 700 D.

Odos travel in coordinated herds along the grasslands of the Tijonara River. Their towering discourages most predators; when pressed, they counter with momentum charges and a rare electric-defense burst from subdermal electroplax arrays. Heavy Exohuman harvest during the Beta Age reduced numbers until the Peace Treaty of the Gamma Age ended hunting and herds recovered under tribal protection.

Physique and Appearance
* **Length:** 2.8–3.2 m
* **Weight:** 500–650 kg
* **Skin:** Thick, hairless, hippo-like hide—mud-gray to dust-brown; creased over shoulders and hips; often caked with clay
* **Body:** Deep-chested, pillar-legged; shock-absorbing stride; Paraceratherium proportions
* **Head:** Elongated, high-nasal arch with blunt, fortress-like skull; reduced muzzle
* **Horns:** Pair of curved, bull-style horns set on bony ridges behind the nasal arch, sweeping outward then slightly forward
* **Tail:** Heavy, muscular tail used for balance and signaling (broad paddle tip rather than tuft)
* **Electroplax:** Subdermal plates along shoulders/flanks (no visible glow)
* **Speed:** Up to 50 km/h sprint

Special Features
* **Mud Armor:** Habitual wallowing plates the hide with mineral sludge, cooling the body and dulling scent.
* **Dominance Horns:** Lateral horn-locking contests produce booming impacts across the steppe.
* **Electric Defense (Subtle Cues):** Pre-discharge skin rippling and a faint ozone/ion scent; no bioluminescence.

Game Mechanics
* **Armor Class (AC):** 13 (thick hide & mass)
* **Hit Points (HP):** 85
* **Speed:** 40 ft.

**Attacks:**
* **Charge:** +6 to hit, 2d10+4 bludgeoning; DC 14 Strength save or knocked prone.
* **Horn Press:** +5 to hit, 2d8+3 piercing vs. prone/cornered targets.

**Special Abilities:**
* **Electric Discharge (Recharge 5–6):** 10-ft radius; DC 15 Con save or take 2d8 lightning damage and be stunned until the start of your next turn (half/no stun on success).
* **Herd Cohesion:** Within 10 ft. of two+ Odos, gains advantage on saves vs. fear and forced movement.
* **Rolling Stampede:** If five+ Odos Charge in the same round, create a 15-ft-wide moving hazard zone: 3d10 bludgeoning (DC 14 Dex half).

Behavior
* **Diet:** Steppe grasses, sedges, salt shrubs (mineral wallows favored).
* **Social Structure:** Herds of 20–50 led by experienced cows; bulls orbit and join during rut.
* **Activity:** Crepuscular; long, steady migrations between forage and water.

Survival Strategies
* **Protective Phalanx:** Adults form shoulder-to-shoulder walls around calves.
* **Ozone Warning:** Predators learn to respect the ion scent and skin-ripple cue preceding discharge.
* **Wave Movement:** Herd advances in rolling arcs that disrupt pursuit lines.

Reproduction and Lifecycle
* **Mating Season:** Rainfall-triggered every 3 years.
* **Gestation:** ~11 months; single calf (rare twins).
* **Calf Rearing:** Calves remain inside the phalanx up to 2 years.
* **Lifespan:** 30–40 years.
* **Ritual Combat:** Bulls lock horns and shove laterally; little frontal goring.

Senti Tribe and the Odo
**Cultural Beliefs:** Symbols of endurance and communal strength; drum patterns echo herd wave-gait.
**Materials (Historic):** Fallen horn sheaths and shed hide plates used in ritual shields and rattles.
**Protection:** Senti patrols shadow herds along migration corridors; poaching is a grave offense in the Gamma Age.

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
* **Moving Terrain:** Treat a migrating herd as shifting difficult terrain with sudden Charge lanes.
* **Shock Surprise:** Telegraph Discharge with ion scent and skin ripples before the first use.
* **Moral Pressure:** Poachers or desperate settlers create thorny choices in escort/scouting jobs.
* **Field Signs:** Clay-wallowed rub sites and horn-height gouges foreshadow nearby herds.
