KITTENS FROM SPACE
Overview
 * **Location:** Public Services Ring, Firetown
 * **Address:** NW Public Services Ring Road 1
 * **Surroundings:** Nestled in Firetown’s Entertainment District, adjacent to the Nebula Fight Arena

Kittens from Space was Firetown’s most notorious Pleasure Club during the Beta Age, catering to miners, mercenaries, and thrill‑seekers. Founded in mid‑2628 by Isaac Lubega — an ex‑convict from the Last Frontier prison module known for elaborate fraud schemes — and LSD magnate Ken Petridis, the club embodied Beta Age excess with plush décor, private alcoves, high‑stakes gambling, and discreet chemical vices. Its neon feline‑on‑crescent‑moon sign became a glowing beacon against the volcanic night sky.

Following the Great War, Kittens from Space faced closure as part of the Peace Treaty reforms. Supreme Councilor Aisha Patel’s administration cited staff shortages and the energy crisis as reasons to shut down establishments deemed non-essential. This move aligned with Communardist principles, prioritizing resource conservation and communal needs over individual enterprises. The building was later repurposed in 2632, becoming the Firetown Bowling Alley, a communal recreational facility embodying the new socio-political values of the Gamma Age.

Architectural Significance
 * **Construction Materials:** A New Frontier build assembled from welded cargo containers, salvaged Last Frontier hull plates, bulkhead ribs, and reclaimed industrial beams. Outer surfaces are soot-stained metal and patch panels; only the footings and a few thermal anchor blocks use rough local stone hidden beneath the structure.
 * **Floors:** Single-story sprawl — a wide central hall volume plus container-lined side modules (private rooms, bar storage, staff annex).
 * **Design:** Built for heat retention, discretion, and fast conversion. Thick insulation layers and double-door vestibules keep warmth in while allowing constant foot traffic from the Entertainment District. Curtains, partitions, and modular alcove frames create intimacy without permanent walls.
 * **Geothermal Feed Vents:** Insulated steel stacks and vent assemblies integrated into the rear façade, channeling heat and hot water from the Geothermal Power Plant to maintain interior temperature
 * **Air Vents / Heat Recovery Ventilator:** The building's air exchange was managed by a centralized, mechanical ventilation system with a central intake on the exterior of the building.
 * **Power Supply:** Quantum Fusion Battery
 * **Lighting:** Exterior identity comes from neon iconography and torch brackets; interior lighting mixes warm lanterns, low-red practical lamps, and selective stage spotlights to keep the room dim, flattering, and hard to read from the doorway.
Building Structure
**Interior and Atmosphere**

 * **Main Hall:** A lavishly decorated central space that served as the heart of the club, offering live performances and entertainment.

 * **Central Stage:** A 1 m high performance stage at the room’s center, complete with retractable railings, overhead holo-lasers, and reinforced decking for acrobatic acts.
 * **Service Staff Quarters:** Located at the back of the building, these rooms housed workers during their shifts.
 * **Restrooms (4):** Four unisex stall with AuroraSan fixtures, tucked behind the stage

**Exterior**

Look and Feel
Step through the recessed metal doorway and the cold of Firetown snaps shut behind you. Inside, the club is a welded maze of containers and ship-salvage, their steel walls sweating faint condensation where geothermal heat fights the Dark Side’s frost.

The air is thick and warm, heavy with perfume, spilled alcohol, chemical stimulants, and the faint metallic tang of heated steel. Steam hisses softly from vent seams above, blurring the red and violet glow of neon strips bolted directly to bulkhead ribs. Chain-hung lanterns sway with the bass, throwing restless shadows across dented wall panels and threadbare velvet curtains that mark off private alcoves.

At the center, the main hall opens up around a low, reinforced stage welded from cargo decking. Four raised pole platforms ring it, their padded rails scarred by boots and fingertips alike. Holo-lasers cut slow arcs through cigarette smoke as dancers move in time with the band — bodies framed by light, metal, and heat rather than elegance. The crowd presses close: miners still dusted with copper ore, mercenaries with frost-bitten coats slung over chairs, gamblers hunched over low tables where chips clack against steel.

The bar is a brutal slab of ship plating and copper piping, bottles rattling in open racks as the bartender works fast. Shot glasses and pill vials scatter across tabletops, nudged aside by hands reaching for credit tokens or flesh. Laughter, bargaining, and whispered deals overlap in a constant low roar, punctuated by cheers when the music peaks or a high-roller wins big.

In the alcoves, curtains breathe with every movement behind them — silhouettes shifting, voices dropping. Nothing here is truly private, only obscured. The sense of risk is constant: bouncers loom near the stage, watching with practiced indifference, and everyone knows that one wrong touch or unpaid debt will end in violence measured in seconds.

Kittens from Space doesn’t pretend to be refined. It is heat and noise, desire and desperation — a place built from scrap and survival, where Firetown’s excess burns brightest against the endless night.

Illegal Activities in the Club
While the Free State of Settlers permitted a liberal economy, Kittens from Space operated within the gray areas of the law:

 * **Opening Hours:** Daily 15:00 – 05:00

Security Measures
Despite its indulgent reputation, Kittens from Space maintained strict security protocols to protect patrons and staff:

 * **Entrance Supervision:** Two armed bouncers ensured only invited or paying patrons could enter, screening for troublemakers. They were armed with Melee Weapons.
 * **Stage Bodyguard:** A dedicated armed bodyguard was posted permanently near the stage to protect performers and deter unruly patrons. The bodyguard was armed with Melee Weapons and a Windstrike Rifle
