KITO JAROSLAV
Race and Faction
 * **Species:** Exohuman
 * **Born:** 2578 on the spaceship Last Frontier | Presumed Deceased since 2629
 * **Affiliation (Alpha & Beta Age):** Last Frontier University
 * **Place of Residence:** New Kourou

Background
Kito Jaroslav was born in 2578 as the second child of Martina and Abioye Jaroslav, a well-respected medical engineer and a synthetic botanist aboard the Last Frontier. Raised in an intellectually vibrant environment, Kito developed a deep curiosity for planetary formation, tectonics, and mineralogy.

He studied Geology at Last Frontier University, becoming an Assistant Professor after his PhD. After the crash-landing of the Last Frontier on VOI 700 D in 2625 and the loss of two of his supervising professors, Kito was appointed Professor of Geology at the re-established university in New Kourou. Kito’s fascination with the unknown landscapes of the Dark Side led him to study the Ralar Region, a treacherous and geologically unstable frontier. Driven by the belief that understanding the planet’s darker regions would unlock secrets about VOI 700 D’s deeper structure, Kito lobbied the Free State of Settlers for funding and organized the ambitious Vazhak I Expedition in 2628.

Three months after crossing the border into Vazhak, the expedition lost all contact. In 2628, the Vazhak II Expedition set out to retrace their path. During their journey, the team encountered a Zathurr (Vazhak Maw) and lost 16 members in a devastating ambush. Based on this encounter and signs of terrain destruction, the surviving members concluded that Kito’s team had likely suffered the same fate. Kito Jaroslav was officially declared deceased in 2629.

Unknown to most of the academic world, Kito Jaroslav was secretly engaged with his research assistant Rosanne Fernandez who led the Vazhak II expedition.
Role by Age
Alpha Age:
 * **Job Title:** Geology Student & Research Assistant, Last Frontier University
 * **Responsibilities:** Assisting in mineral cataloguing, rock formation simulations, and geological forecasting models related to unknown planetary bodies

Beta Age:
 * **Job Title:** Professor of Geology, Last Frontier University (New Kourou)
 * **Responsibilities:** Leading geological research with a focus on the Dark Side, coordinating terrain sampling in the Ralar Region, organizing and commanding the Vazhak I Expedition

Gamma Age:
 * **Status:** Officially declared deceased in 2629 after the failure of the Vazhak I Expedition

Personality =
 * **Traits:** Bold, methodical, and intellectually adventurous
 * **Behavior:** Kito was known for his calm demeanor and precise communication. He often challenged assumptions and encouraged his students to ask dangerous questions. Though he could be obsessive when chasing new geological patterns, he inspired loyalty through his quiet intensity and unshakable focus.
 * **Values:** Discovery, legacy, and exploration. Kito believed humanity’s survival on VOI 700 D depended on understanding—not conquering—the planet. He saw knowledge as the most powerful tool of adaptation.

Physical Attributes
 * **Height:** 1.79 meters
 * **Weight:** 75 kg
 * **Appearance:** Kito had dark, close-cropped hair with a streak of grey at the temple, a neatly trimmed beard, and dark brown eyes. In the Beta Age, he typically wore reinforced field attire with specialized geology equipment—rock hammers, samplers, scanning gloves—tucked into modular belts.

Combat Statistics
 * **Armor Class (AC):** 13 (light scientific field armor)
 * **Hit Points (HP):** 38

Actions:
 * **Seismic Scanner Deployment:** Can detect nearby unstable terrain or tectonic shifts, giving advantage on Survival checks related to cave-ins or terrain hazards
 * **Rock Hammer Strike:** Used as a blunt-force tool | **Damage:** 1d6 + 1
 * **Geology Field Data Boost:** Once per session, Kito can give an ally +2 to any skill check related to terrain, excavation, or material identification

Special Abilities
 * **Dark Side Surveyor:** Gain +2 on all Knowledge (Geography/Geology) rolls related to the Dark Side and the Ralar/Vazhak regions
 * **Expedition Leader:** While Kito is present, allies in exploration parties gain +1 morale and advantage on Constitution checks related to fatigue or extreme terrain

Motivations and Goals
Kito Jaroslav was driven by a need to uncover what lay beneath the surface—both literally and symbolically. He wanted to understand the geologic evolution of VOI 700 D, especially the untouched and perilous zones of the Dark Side. His ultimate goal was to draft a comprehensive geological map of the planet, complete with energy flow patterns, tectonic history, and potential safe zones for long-term settler expansion.

 * **In the Alpha Age,** Kito was a quiet but brilliant student, already displaying signs of ambition that would later define his legacy.
 *
 * **In the Beta Age,** he emerged as a trailblazer—willing to put his life on the line to explore regions no Exohuman had ever walked. His leadership of the Vazhak I Expedition was as much about scientific curiosity as it was about proving that the Dark Side could be understood.
 *
 * **In the Gamma Age,** his absence is felt in academic and exploratory circles. Some younger geologists refer to him as the “Lost Core” — a figure of both inspiration and caution.

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
Kito Jaroslav can be used in multiple ways, depending on the campaign’s timeline:

 * **In the Alpha Age,** he may serve as a background figure in academic scenes, already noted for his curiosity in the planet’s crust and geologic anomalies.

 * **In the Beta Age,** he is a high-risk expedition leader and perfect for involving the party in pre-expedition planning, sample-recovery missions, or failed rescue attempts. He can assign tasks, defend controversial findings, or serve as a key voice in scientific debates.

 * **In the Gamma Age,** Kito becomes a legendary figure, his disappearance open to speculation and myth.

Kito’s presence brings depth to science-driven exploration arcs and adds emotional weight to survival narratives. He represents ambition, loss, and the dangers of reaching too far into the unknown.
