FIRETOWN POST HEADQUARTERS
Overview
  * **Location:** Public Services Ring, Firetown
  * **Address:** NW Public Services Ring Road 8
  * **Surroundings:** in Walking distance to the Gamma Age-remains of the Firetown Entertainment District

The Firetown Post Headquarters is the editorial and printing office of the Firetown Post, the weekly party newspaper of the Individualist Party. Since private ownership of buildings is forbidden under Communard law, the site is officially registered as an Individualist Party facility. In practice, however, the party rarely uses it for political operations, relying instead on the Mayor’s Office as its true center of power.

Repurposed in 2634 from the former German Imbiss, the building retains much of its compact structure but has been converted into a functional newsroom and printing shop. Rumors suggest the analogue printer and maintenance technician were “organized” by the Jane Mendoza Gang, and distribution is whispered to be financed by black market funds.

History
The German Imbiss, once a popular Beta Age eatery, closed after the Great War. Its insulated walls and compact design made it an ideal shell for postwar reuse. When the Independent Press Act of 2634 created the Weekly Gazette, the Individualists responded immediately by converting the vacant Imbiss into the headquarters of their own paper.

Since then, the Post has been edited, printed, and distributed from this site — a symbol of opposition to Communard-controlled media.

Architectural Significance
  * **Construction Materials:** Corrugated metal panels reclaimed from decommissioned hydroponic modules, set atop a reinforced volcanic stone plinth and insulated with layered Mirel Leaf padding.
  * **Floors:** 1
  * **Design:** Compact enclosed cabin with thick, insulated walls and a glazed front, adapted from its food-service origins to house desks, party banners, and the analogue press.
  * **Lighting & Heating:** Overhead geothermal-powered radiant panels warm the space; warm-hued lanterns supplement light in the perpetual twilight of the Dark Side.

Though pragmatic in design, the building’s patched surfaces and party insignia project defiance rather than elegance — a political stronghold carved out of a former snack bar.

Building Structure
  * **Reception & Subscription Desk:** The former order counter now handles party information, subscriptions, and visitor inquiries.
  * **Editorial Room:** Six booths converted into workspaces, lined with heat vents and cluttered with handwritten drafts and party pamphlets.
  * **Printing Nook:** The old kitchen space now houses the analogue press; ink fumes and mechanical clatter dominate the room.
  * **Takeaway Shelf:** The exterior hatch, once used for bratwurst, now serves for handing out bundles of freshly printed issues to party volunteers.
  * **Storage & Archive Closet:** The insulated rear vestibule holds stacks of past issues, party manifestos, and sensitive correspondence.

Look and Feel
The headquarters still carries traces of its Imbiss past: tiled walls and the faint smell of fried Hoos meat linger beneath layers of ink and cigarette smoke. Posters of the Individualist Party and inflammatory headlines plaster the interior, overlapping with old murals.

The cramped newsroom atmosphere is intensified by the thrum of the analogue press and the heated debates of editors at work. Despite its modest size, the building radiates the energy of resistance — half-political cell, half-underground print shop.

Roles and Responsibilities
The Firetown Post operates with an officially volunteer editorial team, since every citizen of the Federal Confederation is assigned to a job by the GAIA system. In practice, however, the Post functions like a professional newsroom, directed and staffed by committed Individualist supporters.

  * **Editor-in-Chief:** Appointed by Individualist Party leadership.
  * **Deputy Editor:** Handles day-to-day management.
  * **Editors (3):** Manage politics, culture, and social coverage.
  * **Columnists & Party Writers:** Draft ideological pieces and speeches.
  * **Clerks & Printers:** Handle layout, printing, and distribution.

**Rumors:** Despite its official volunteer status, critics allege that some staff receive covert compensation through black market channels, linking the Post’s finances to outlaw networks and illicit trade.
Public Access, Operating Hours and Rhythm
  * **Public Access:** Limited to subscribers, party members, or citizens seeking party information.
  * **Operating Hours:** Irregular; open around printing days and party meetings.
  * **Operational Rhythm:**
    * **Morning:** Printers prepare runs; volunteers organize bundles.
    * **Daytime:** Editors draft and revise; subscription desk handles inquiries.
    * **Evening:** Party strategy sessions and occasional rallies.

Security Measures
  * **Party Volunteers:** Guard the entrance during active press days or meetings.
  * **Restricted Access:** Printing nook and storage remain locked; only editors and technicians have keys.
  * **Sheriff Oversight:** The Local Sheriff performs only cursory inspections, reflecting Firetown’s Individualist dominance.

Player Interaction Possibilities
**Legal (Common Interactions)**
  * Subscribe to the Firetown Post and pick up issues at the counter.
  * Petition the editors to cover a grievance or local event.
  * Attend an Individualist Party meeting held in the booths-turned-hall.
  * Apply as volunteer writer or distributor.
  * Get interviewed for an article or photo shooting.

**Illegal**
  * Infiltrate the printing nook to sabotage or alter copies.
  * Steal financial ledgers linking the Post to black market funds.
  * Spy on editors or party figures using the building as a cover.

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
  * **Courier’s Burden:** PCs must protect volunteer couriers delivering the Post across hostile territory.
  * **The Black Market Ledger:** PCs stumble across financial records tying the Post to illicit funding — leverage, expose, or cover it up?
