FIRETOWN COURIER STATION COMPANY (FCSC)
Overview
 * **Founding Year:** 2627
 * **Headquarters:** Firetown Courier Station, Firetown
 * **Original Purpose:** Own, maintain, and operate the Firetown Courier Station while providing warehouse space, cart servicing, and local pick-up / last-mile delivery for the Firetown Courier Service (FCS).
 * **Founders & Ownership:** Established by Larry David — a former Free State Courier Rider—with the FCS as a 45 % minority shareholder.

The FCSC was conceived as the keystone of the FCS’s lean business model: instead of tying up capital in bricks, mortar, and mechanics, the carrier outsourced every station-side function to a dedicated partner. Larry David supplied frontier know-how and personal savings; the FCS supplied traffic volume—and both parties shared the profits.

History
Outsourced Infrastructure (2627 – 2629)
From day one the Firetown Courier Station Company handled everything that happened inside Firetown’s walls. Carts rolled in from the icy Extended Trade Route; FCSC crews unloaded, inspected, refueled, and warehoused the cargo while NKCS-built carts received light maintenance.
The firm also ran the town’s inbound-logistics loop, collecting finished goods from local foundries and merchant stalls, then staging them in the central warehouse for the dawn convoy. This “white-glove” service freed the Firetown Courier Service to focus strictly on long-haul delivery.

Because it was the only commercial depot in Firetown, the station doubled as a drop-off / pick-up hub for independent Free State Courier Riders shuttling mail and parcels up from the Dark-Side hinterland. Riders paid a modest handling fee; townsfolk enjoyed same-day delivery without trekking to the Twilight border.

War-Time Consolidation (2629 – 2631)
During the Great War the parent carrier’s finances collapsed under weekly ambushes and rising guard costs. When the New Kourou Courier Service (NKCS) bought out the Firetown Courier Service, Larry David followed suit — selling 100 % of FCSC equity to NKCS only months before the Federal Confederation nationalised every private logistics firm on 4 July 2631. The station, its crews, and its tool sheds were folded into the new Federal Courier Service.

Operations & Services
 * **Station Management:** Dock scheduling, hoist crews, cold-storage oversight, on-site security.
 * **Cart Maintenance:** Light repairs, Luminofera lamp swaps, hoof-shoeing for station-based Hoos; heavy overhauls subcontracted to NKCS workshops in New Kourou.
 * **Warehouse & Cross-Docking:** 2 000 m² insulated hall with segregated bays for perishable, hazardous, and bulk freight.
 * **Local Pick-Up / Last-Mile:** Fleet of hand-carts and rented pack-Hoos collected goods from Firetown workshops and markets for staging.
 * **Rider Services:** Feed, bunk, and parcel handling for Free State Courier Riders.

Legacy and Impact
 * **Proof of Concept:** Demonstrated that an outsourced station model could keep a frontier courier line running with minimal capital.
 * **Frontier Logistics Hub:** Served as Firetown’s nerve-centre for commerce until the Gamma Age Federal network took over.
 * **Training Ground:** Many FCSC mechanics and warehouse clerks were later reassigned across the Federal Courier Service, spreading Dark-Side maintenance know-how to other settlements.

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
 * **Station Heist:** Smugglers target the cold-storage vault; players defend—or infiltrate.
 * **Last-Mile Chaos:** A Butler-Bot shortage forces PCs to run nighttime pick-ups through Firetown’s snow-choked alleys.
 * **War-Time Evac:** Escort Larry David as he moves ledgers and payroll coffers during the NKCS takeover.
