FIRETOWN BOWLING ALLEY
Overview
 * **Location:** Public Services Ring
 * **Address:** NW Public Services Ring Road 1, Firetown
 * **Surroundings:** Situated in Firetown’s Entertainment District, the Firetown Bowling Alley (FBA) stands as a symbol of communal recreation and a stark contrast to its controversial past as a Beta Age red-light club.

The Firetown Bowling Alley was established in the year 2632 after the Great War to foster social and recreational engagement among the workers of Firetown. Its roots trace back to the site of the infamous Kittens from Space, a Beta Age red-light club that was once humanity's largest brothel away from Earth. The transition from a notorious venue of indulgence to a wholesome recreational facility reflects the socio-political changes brought by Communardism and the Peace Treaty.

History and Reputation
 * **The Beta Age:** During the Beta Age, the building now housing the FBA was the legendary "Kittens from Space," a sprawling red-light club boasting a permanent staff of approximately 50 workers. Known for its grandeur and unrestrained revelry, the club catered to miners, soldiers of fortune, and visitors from across the Ralar Region. Its neon sign— a sultry feline astride a crescent moon— was an iconic landmark in Firetown. Despite its popularity, the Kittens from Space became a casualty of post-war reforms. The administration of Supreme Councilor Aisha Patel shut down the club in response to staff shortages and the energy crisis, citing the Peace Treaty’s resource-saving directives.

 * **The Gamma Age:** In 2632, the building was repurposed into the Firetown Bowling Alley under the initiative of the Federal Confederation. This new venture aimed to provide workers with a constructive outlet for leisure while aligning with the values of Communardism. The FBA now operates as a fully communal recreational facility, promoting teamwork, relaxation, and community bonding.

Management
The Firetown Bowling Alley is owned and managed by the Federal Confederation. Unlike private enterprises of the Beta Age, the FBA operates under strict regulations to ensure equitable access and resource efficiency.

The current manager, Miriam Kovacs, is a former receptionist from the Federal Courier Station of Firetown.Miriam oversees the alley with precision, balancing her public responsibilities with secret dealings that reflect her resentment toward Communardism.

Architectural Significance
 * **Construction Materials:** Built from volcanic stone sourced from the Ralar volcano, typical of Firetown’s architecture.
 * **Floors:** Single-story layout with a focus on maximizing open recreational space.
 * **Design:** Utilitarian and modular, adapted from the building's original structure.
 * **Lighting and Heating:** Illumination is provided by candlelight and Luminofera Dualis fixtures. Heating is supplied via a connection to the Federal Geothermal Power Plant.

Building Structure
**Interior and Atmosphere**

 * **Bowling Lanes:** Six polished European-style lanes, equipped with manual reset mechanisms due to resource restrictions.
 * **Seating Area:** Simple benches and tables accommodate up to 30 patrons.
 * **Counter:** Patrons can order up to two drinks per visit with their Allotment Cards, alcohol is strictly prohibited. Features a water tap and a sign stating: “Notice: Only non-alcoholic beverages are served here. Water is free, but patrons are limited to two servings per visit.”
 * **Toilets:** Located at the rear of the main hall, the toilets are basic yet functional, designed to accommodate the saloon’s limited patron capacity. Both a men’s and a women’s facility are available, featuring the AuroraSan System.
 * **Sealed Back Rooms:** The former red-light rooms of Kittens from Space remain an enigmatic part of the Firetown Bowling Alley. Officially sealed and off-limits, these rooms are repurposed as the venue for Knock and Walk Fights. Access to these rooms is hidden behind the men's restroom, where patrons must slide a volcanic stone under the far-right cubicle door to signal their request for entry. The soundproof cubicle functions as a sluice, leading directly to an anteroom where a doorkeeper decides who may enter. Once inside, participants and spectators engage in this illegal combat sport under the strict supervision of the Jane Mendoza Gang."

**Exterior and Symbolism**

 * **Front Appearance:** The iconic neon sign of "Kittens from Space" has been replaced with a simple, understated sign reading "Firetown Bowling Alley."
 * **Symbolism:** The FBA represents the transformation of Firetown’s Entertainment District, blending recreation with post-war austerity.

Influence of the Jane Mendoza Gang
While the Firetown Bowling Alley operates as a legitimate establishment, its ties to the Jane Mendoza Gang's are undeniable. Members of the gang frequently visit the club, not only for leisure but also as part of their operations. The informal and unassuming atmosphere of the venue makes it an ideal location for discreet dealings and recruitment efforts.

The gang uses the club as a front for several illegal activities:

 * **Drug Trade:** The Jane Mendoza Gang discreetly supplies drugs to select patrons. Transactions are carefully coordinated to avoid detection by federal authorities.
 * **Alcohol Sales:** Although alcohol is officially banned at the Bowling Alley, patrons can secretly order drinks spiked with a shot of gang-supplied alcohol. These drinks are not listed on the menu and must be requested using specific code phrases.
 * **Illegal Betting:** While betting on bowling matches here is modest and rare, patrons may uncover hints about more significant gambling opportunities at the Firetown Billiard Saloon through subtle conversations with Miriam Kovacs or other regulars.
 * **Underground Knock and walk-Fights:** The Jane Mendoza Gang organizes brutal, unregulated fights in one of the former red-light rooms.
