FEDERAL ATTORNEY BUILDING
Overview
  * **Location:** Civic Ring, New Kourou
  * **Address:** NW Civic Ring Road 2
  * **Surroundings:** Adjacent to the Federal Sheriff’s Headquarters and across from the Federal Court Building, forming the justice core of the Civic Ring.

The Federal Attorney Building serves as the headquarters of the Federal Attorney, the chief legal representative of the Federal Confederation in the Gamma Age. The Federal Attorney prosecutes criminal cases, represents the Confederation in civil and constitutional matters, and advises the Federal Council on legal issues.

Appointed by the Federal Council with GAIA’s recommendations, the Federal Attorney plays a decisive role in balancing law enforcement by the Federal Sheriff with judicial oversight by the Federal Court.

History
The building was completed in 2632 during the Communard reforms under Aisha Patel. It replaced the scattered Beta Age prosecutorial offices with a single federal authority. Its establishment symbolized the centralization of justice alongside the new Federal Court, ensuring that prosecutions, trials, and legal oversight were coordinated under Communard principles of transparency and collective accountability.

Architectural Significance
  * **Construction Materials:** Salvaged alloy plating and modular bulkheads from the Last Frontier.
  * **Floors:** 3
  * **Design Purpose:** A practical, secure administrative hub focused on case preparation and government legal oversight.

The exterior is austere, with narrow alloy-panel walls and reinforced entrances. Inside, the layout emphasizes efficiency: crowded offices, secure archives, and functional chambers designed for debate and legal preparation rather than ceremony.

Building Structure
**Ground Floor**
  * **Public Lobby & Reception:** Citizens can seek information or submit petitions related to prosecutions or state representation.
  * **Prosecution Offices:** Attorneys and clerks prepare cases, gather evidence, and coordinate with the Federal Sheriff.
  * **Evidence Storage:** A secure room for physical and paper case files, restricted to authorized staff.

**Second Floor**
  * **Legal Advisory Division:** Provides counsel to the Federal Council and other agencies, focusing on constitutional law and state compliance.
  * **Attorney’s Office:** The private office of the Federal Attorney, where strategic decisions are made and high-level consultations occur.

**Third Floor**
  * **Constitutional Review Chamber:** A chamber where proposed laws and government actions are analyzed for constitutional alignment.
  * **Administrative Offices:** Clerical and support staff manage scheduling, case tracking, and communication with the Court and Sheriff.

Look and Feel
The Federal Attorney Building is quieter than the bustling Court but equally solemn. Its walls, pieced together from salvaged plating of the Last Frontier, give the structure a patchwork, improvised appearance. Yet this rough exterior also symbolizes renewal: a system of rationality and fairness forged from the chaos of the Great War.

Inside, the atmosphere is austere and purposeful. The air smells of ink and paper, with clerks hunched over desks stamping slips and drafting briefs. Filing cabinets line the walls, and evidence crates are stacked under lock and key. Conversations are subdued and precise, as if every word might become part of a legal record. The stripped-down interior mirrors the Communard ethos — efficient, standardized, and functional — but also carries the quiet weight of a new beginning, where justice is meant to stand above individual ambition.

Roles and Responsibilities
  * **Federal Attorney:** Directs prosecutions, represents the Confederation in civil and constitutional cases, and advises the Federal Council.
  * **Prosecutors:** Handle day-to-day criminal cases, preparing charges and arguing in Federal Court.
  * **Legal Advisors:** Draft opinions on proposed laws and advise federal agencies.
  * **Clerks & Archivists:** Manage records, evidence storage, and communication with the Federal Court and Sheriff.
  * **Administrative Staff:** Oversee scheduling, public inquiries, and inter-agency coordination.

Public Access, Operating Hours and Rhythm
  * **Public Access:** Limited to the reception lobby; citizens cannot directly access case files or prosecution offices.
  * **Operating Hours:** Mon–Sat, 08:00–18:00. Case preparation often extends into the evening.
  * **Operational Rhythm:**
    * **Morning:** Review incoming cases from the Federal Sheriff; assign prosecutors.
    * **Midday:** Meetings with the Court and Council; preparation of legal briefs.
    * **Afternoon:** Drafting constitutional opinions; coordination with prosecution teams.
    * **After Hours:** Evidence secured; clerks file rulings and GAIA reports for the archive.

  * **On-Site Deputies:** At least one deputy is stationed per floor, with two assigned to the evidence room.
  * **Evidence Security:** Physical files and case evidence locked in reinforced storage.
  * **Court Liaison:** For high-risk trials, security protocols are coordinated directly with the Court and Sheriff.
  * **Analog Alert System:** An Analog Siren System linked to the Sheriff’s Headquarters.

  * Attend a scheduled consultation or briefing with legal staff on behalf of another agency

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
The Federal Attorney Building is a hub of legal intrigue where politics and law intertwine. PCs are often drawn in through Sheriff assignments or as intermediaries in prosecutions:

  * **The Vanished Evidence:** A crate of documents destined for a high-profile trial disappears from evidence storage. The PCs must recover it before the trial begins.
  * **The Prosecutor’s Secret:** Rumors spread that a senior prosecutor is colluding with Individualists. The PCs must uncover whether this is true — or a smear campaign meant to discredit the Attorney’s office.
