The Federal Longlist was inaugurated in December 2634 with the opening of the [[federal_library_of_new_kourou|Federal Library of New Kourou]]. Its creation replaced unrestricted digital access with a sustainable, paper-based system designed to preserve knowledge while adhering to the energy limitations of the [[peace_treaty|Peace Treaty]].
-Originally envisioned as a catalogue of several thousand works, the Longlist was scaled down multiple times due to resource constraints. Today, it contains **about 960 titles**, carefully balanced across four categories. Printing, binding, and transporting each book across all Federal Libraries requires precise management, with circulation limits imposed per title.
