TRANDON

Overview

Trandon is a settlement of the Trando tribe located in the eastern Equatorial Section Asari in the Habitual Belt on VOI 700 D. With an estimated population of 12,500, Trandon is the largest known treetop settlements among the Native Tribes.

What sets Trandon apart is its architectural uniqueness: it is not built on the ground but suspended high in the dense forest canopy along the eastern shore of Lake Arla.

Geographical Position

Trandon is situated on the lush eastern shore of Lake Arla, surrounded by towering rainforest trees. The region's fertile land and access to fresh water have supported the tribe’s way of life for generations. The dense forest also provides natural cover and protection from intrusions or harsh environmental conditions.

Local Weather Conditions in Trandon

Trandon experiences a stable equatorial rainforest climate typical of the Lake Arla Region. Temperatures range between 22°C and 32°C throughout the cycle, with consistent humidity and frequent rainfall. Though VOI 700 D lacks a traditional day-night cycle, the dense tree canopy filters sunlight into a soft, perpetual twilight, creating a unique microclimate ideal for treetop agriculture.

The moisture-rich air, filtered light, and constant rains contribute to lush vegetation and biodiversity, which in turn support the Trando Tribe’s vegetarian lifestyle and sustainable farming practices.

Architecture in Trandon

Trandon’s architecture is an impressive demonstration of symbiosis with nature. All homes and communal structures are built in the upper canopy of the forest, anchored to tree trunks and suspended across branches.

  • Materials: Primarily organic — harvested vines, woven bamboo, and treated wood — crafted without damaging the host trees.
  • Structural Design: Interconnected by suspension bridges, ladders, and pulley systems, the architecture allows safe and fluid movement throughout the treetop network.
  • Defensive Value: Elevated design provides natural protection from wildlife and potential threats from the forest floor.

Town Structure

Trandon follows a layered vertical structure:

  • Lower Canopy: Used for farming platforms and water collection systems.
  • Mid-Canopy: Residential zones and artisan workshops.
  • Upper Canopy: Ceremonial platforms, leadership quarters, and communal gathering spaces.

The central node of Trandon is the Great Tree Council Hall, a massive platform encircling one of the largest trees in the area, where tribal decisions and ceremonies take place.

Tribal Leadership and Governance

Trandon is governed by a council of elders representing family lines within the Trando Tribe. Decisions are made through consensus during gatherings in the Great Tree Council Hall. Leadership is based on wisdom, age, and contributions to the community’s well-being.

Security Measures

While the Trando Tribe prioritizes peace, Trandon is not without defenses:

  • Canopy Patrols: Silent scouts monitor the forest using elevated watchposts.
  • Signal Flares: Bioluminescent flare devices warn of incoming threats.
  • Withdrawal Paths: Concealed rope ladders and zip-lines provide quick escape routes into deeper forest zones.

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters

Trandon is a unique setting for character-driven, low-combat storytelling focused on diplomacy, spiritual conflict, and survival in harmony with nature. Dungeon Masters should be mindful of the cultural rules and ecological values upheld by the Trando Tribe: violence is rare, resource use is carefully regulated, and outsiders are often viewed with respectful caution.

Encounters with Exohumans during the Beta Age are typically characterized by restraint, curiosity, and growing discomfort on both sides. Trandon was still open to cautious diplomatic contact during this period, though tensions were rising.

In the Gamma Age, following the Great War, ExoHumans are only tolerated in Trandon under strict conditions. Their presence is regulated by the tribal council and must be justified by specific cultural, diplomatic, or humanitarian reasons. This creates opportunities for stories about negotiation, redemption, and uneasy cooperation.

Campaigns in Trandon should emphasize environmental storytelling, hidden tensions within the tribe, and the mystery of the ancient forest that surrounds the treetop city. Verticality, isolation, and community pressure can serve as both physical and narrative obstacles for players.
