That is why all decisions essential to the people are made in the Federal Council in New Kourou. It gets elected every two years (which is precicely the form of democracy that the settlers had already successfully applied on the spaceship) At the head of the council is the Supreme Councilor, who is elected by the settlers along with a 14-member federal council. They form the so-called “Selected Fifteen“. Together, they advocate for the interests of citizens and draft legislative proposals that are voted on directly by the adult citizens of the Federal Confederation.
