ANALOG SIREN SYSTEM

The Analog Siren System is an essential emergency alert mechanism installed across all ExoHuman settlements within the Federal Confederation. Designed to function independently of electrical power, it ensures rapid communication of emergencies to the Local Sheriff’s Office (in Hope, Morningstar, and Firetown) or the Federal Sheriff’s Headquarters (in New Kourou).

The system operates through manually activated sirens installed in all Federal and public buildings within each settlement, ensuring comprehensive coverage and quick response.

• Design: The sirens are hand-cranked devices capable of emitting loud, piercing tones audible across the settlement.

• Activation: In an emergency, a designated person (e.g., Facility Manager, Librarian) cranks the siren.
• Coverage: The sound is loud enough to alert nearby buildings and areas within the settlement.
• Response: Upon hearing the siren, Sheriff’s deputies immediately deploy to the location, following pre-established security protocols. There is no confirmation system; the Sheriff’s Office operates on the assumption that all sirens are legitimate unless otherwise notified.

Sirens are strategically installed in all Federal and public buildings, ensuring that no area of the settlement is left uncovered. These buildings are staffed by individuals trained to activate the siren during emergencies.

• Deputies deploy in pre-assigned teams.
• The Sheriff’s team arrives at the siren's location and assesses the situation upon arrival.
• Additional reinforcements are mobilized if necessary.

• Independent of Power: Operates without reliance on electricity, ensuring reliability during power outages or system failures.
• Widespread Coverage: Multiple siren locations guarantee the alert is heard across the settlement.
• Simplicity and Efficiency: Easy to use and understand, requiring minimal training while ensuring rapid response.

• Location of the Siren Activation Device: The activation crank or switch is located in the main administrative room or control area of the building.In public spaces (e.g., Federal Libraries or Canteens), it is typically near the reception desk or manager’s office, secured but accessible in emergencies.

• Process to Activate the Siren: The siren is hand-cranked, requiring a Strength Check (DC 8) to crank it fully. This action takes 1 minute of uninterrupted effort to emit a clear and loud signal.

• Security Measures: Activating the siren may require a key held by designated staff (e.g., Facility Manager) or a lockpicking skill (DC 12) if the activation device is locked.

• Audibility and Range: Siren tones can be heard up to 5 kilometers under normal weather conditions.
• Indoors, the sound penetrates walls effectively, making it impossible to ignore within the building.

Response Time:

• New Kourou (Federal Sheriff’s Headquarters): Deputies arrive in 5–10 minutes if the building is within the settlement's center.Response times increase to 15–20 minutes in peripheral areas.

• Firetown, Hope, Morningstar (Local Sheriff’s Office): Deputies arrive in 10–15 minutes, depending on the size of the settlement and proximity to the Sheriff’s Office.

If deputies are already engaged in another situation, delays may occur (DM discretion).

Deactivating the Siren:

• A siren can be deactivated by reversing the crank This requires access to the activation point, which may involve overcoming locked doors or obstacles.

Repairing or Sabotaging the Siren:

• Sabotage: A skilled saboteur could disable the siren by damaging its gears or mechanism. Requires a Sleight of Hand (DC 12) or Tool Proficiency (DC 10) check.

• Repair:Repairing a sabotaged or damaged siren requires Tool Proficiency (Tinker’s Tools or Smith’s Tools) and a Repair Check (DC 15), taking 1–3 hours based on the extent of the damage.*
